Next job on the list is to change the rusty wing. Help does anyone know of one for sale anywhere. I chased one on E-bay at the weekend from a 964 but got pipped in the last 10 seconds at £256. It looked good in the picture. I phoned around some of the Porsche breakers today and only found one who had any but he wants £350 for a seconhand one which seems a lot of money. They have all got new ones at £550 plus VAT. One breaker who advertises in 911 and Porsche world even told me they dont deal with cars that old !!! Are some of the breakers even getting that stuck up now.
I know a 964 wing will fit but one specialist told me that the wheel arches are a different profile is this true?
Cheers Baz

Baz,

A 964 one will fit but you will also need to use the fuel filler neck, fuel filler flap and plastic neck mount from a 1987-89 3.2 Carrera. You will also need to modify the mount on the rear of the headlight bowl to take the expansion tank and remove a clip from the bottom of the leading edge. I should know, my 911 SC now sports a 964 front wing. It's a worthwhile mod in that the later wings are much easier to remove/refit than the earlier ones. Having said that you will probably never want to remove the wing once replaced....

Assuming you need to sort a narrow bodied car then I have two nearside wings, one genuine Porsche, boxed & brand new in primer for a 3.2 Carrera (87-89) for which you would need to source a fuel neck etc, the other is second hand from a post 81 SC or 3.2 Carrera to '86 (i.e. with the hole for the indicator repeater). The used one is as good as you will ever find - removed from a car about 10 years ago and dry stored in the loft ever since. Absolutely no rust or filler. These wings are from my private stash - I may be persuaded to let one of them go...
