nail in tyre

G.uys, how near to the sidewall does a nail need to be to make repair impossible/too dangerous? My front nearside tyre has a puncture 4 cm from the start of the side wall. Opc Glasgow say it will need to be replaced, I'm not so sure

OPC's will stick to Porsche's assertion that you should not repair Z rated tyres.

I too shy away from repairing these, but many do repair them.
John Bond even has a British Standard (or is it ISO???) number for the correct process [:)]

Same thing happened to me and it's very annoying to have to replace a barely worn tyre, but I don't think that repairing a Z rated tyre on a 65 grand, high performance sports car is a good idea (IMHO). Cut your costs somewhere else.

My suppling dealer sold us Tyre insurance, within weeks made a claim which paid for the insurance, now have 2 years of cover left (up to 4 more claims) With todays tyres insurance is a must![;)]

£250 squids[:)]

So £250 for 3years cover(?) and 5(?) claims max? Any flat tyre is covered, and they don't insist on a repair? What about replacement due to wear? What's to stop someone claiming they have a flat weeks before they have an MOT knowing they will fail on their tyres?
Sounds too good to be true...where's the catch?[;)]

No its 2 years cover and they measure the tyre tread of all your tyres when you claim, if you take the p**s they will tell you to sod off I expect. Will let you know in 2 years, but as have claimed and they paid, don't have much to lose. As for repair, lets face it most of the time repair is not an option[;)]
