Naughty

Don't think it is naughty ...i would say it dam right profiteering .I think most customers will be very angry with this treatment after all it is not a £100 TomTom system that has been installed.

It will in the end I fear be another loss to Porsche, rather than look at how they can bond and increase client loyalty they will damage it, even though in the short term the accountants will be happier. In dealing with German's all my life this is NOT typical of their business sense they are usually much wiser, so Porsche management are doing their own thing, tut tut tut

So what's new? A couple of months after I bought the newly released 987 in 2005, PCM was updated to allow TMC (Traffic Message Channel) in the UK. I was asked to pay £420 for the upgrade even though I had discovered that the facility worked fine while I was on holiday in Germany, but was blocked in the UK. In the end my OPC did the decent thing and installed it at cost - £250.

I now have a 981 and find myself facing the same problem. It's the price we all pay for loving the marque.

BMW updated both nav software and maps in my 325 for just £80. You can always vote with your feet.

I would not spec it at 2k in the 1st place let alone add another £500 to it for it to work.

Do people need NAV, I hate NAV it picks out the shitest routes of which I never want to take.

only time I need it is in a strange city and for me that is rare , say once a year, and for that a smart phone will take me the last mile or so.

People are like sheep on the roads and every one uses NAV even for the basic of trips, the plus point is, it keeps them of the fun roads :)

Sadly if you have no sense of direction and are severely dyslexic like me, SAT NAV is a god send!! Without it I am lost, as my wife says I am a much better driver and more patient for having Sat Nav even if it does at times do some silly things.
