Navigation Update

Hi there,

I have a late 2005 997 C2S (November).
Can anyone let me know if it's possible to upgrade the map disc and whether the software I have will accept a later disc ?
I've been offered a 2007 disc, PART NUMBER # 997.642.255.06 7L5919859BD.
If I put this in, should it work straight away ?

Also has the geometry done at JZ Machtech yesterday and what a revelation. The car hasn't felt right since I bought it from the OPC 2 years ago. Now I understand what all the hype is about !

Thanks

Stuart

Contact Mike Wooster (Berty987), he seems to know this subject very well. He helped me out when I upgraded mine to the same 2007 maps. http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/showprofile.asp?memid=12860#

I have 9972S from 2004 and bought updated mapping in 2006 from ebay for less than £100. At first I got an error saying incompatible but all the maps and the directions including the updated traffic info is showing perfectly, even when going to Europe. I think the risk of it not functioning is minor as it reads the information from the DVD just like any DVD reader. For me it was a significant improvement from the 2004 info, however postcode search is still a pain and not as easy as in the Gen2 cars. Good luck, Max

If your car already has a 2006 map disc then it probably will not require the multimedia update CD for the navigation drive. If the car has a 2004 disc then it will require both the multimedia update for the DVD (navigation drive) as well as a PCM software update. There are a few issues with updating the PCM to be aware of , especially if the car is equipped with the Bose sound system and amplifier. Its quite a complex subject so better if you post your existing model level software which can be found by pressing MAIN and TRIP buttons on the PCM. The screen will then display a software version on the header bar and a list of all the installed components. By selecting each component in turn you can review the software level for each device. This is a read only menu so don't be alarmed by accessing it.

Hi Berty, Here are my details: Model of car: 997 C2S Month and year of registration: November 2004 Date on the DVD disc currently in use: 10.2004 Bose upgrade? Yes SW Versions: 3.3 [FONT=verdana, geneva"]"PCM" code: 05024ED1 / 4705 "AMP" code: 00017400/1704[FONT=verdana,geneva"] From that can you deduct what I require? Thanks, MaKS
