NEC Classic

Been going since about 1990, but theprice is just too much to tolerate as a day out.

Hope you enjoy it!
Yes I agree with you. That and the 3 hour drive each way!

Back in the mid 90's my car club had a stand there for about 5 years running. Talk about expensive as you HAD to buy your insurance, lights etc from the NEC nominated suppliers.

Cost a fortune esp if you had expensive cars on display.

Today, or rather last year, and the years before, very little has changed. Now you have Mike Brewer to watch, and all the others on the gravy train, yet the stand holders do so much of the work.

Nothing new there in years, so giving it a miss, and keep the £100 to spend on my 911!

Love the quote

'Nothing new there in years,....'

It's a classic car show! :p

I must admit the cost is getting hard to swallow, especially when they also charge a 'processing fee', plus parking, plus fuel. Its the same with the autosport show in January which has always been a must do event. Next year's calendar may have a few blank pages.

The Classic is a pretty good show, I guess whether you consider it good value or not is very much a personal opinion with equally no right or wrong answer. Fortunately, there’s always an abundance of free events to look forward to as a PCGB member although realistically I’m pretty sure not many of us drive our Porsches because it’s the most frugal option.

Perhaps being from the North, I have a slightly different take on this to some. Big events of this type are few and far between up here, therefore events like this offer me a great chance to meet up with far-flung friends, make new ones and an opportunity to network in a very enjoyable environment in a central location, although I very much respect its horses for courses.

Based on last years PCGB stand it's just not worth the entrance fee, to say it was pitiful is a bit of an understatement.

Manned by voluenteers from R9, who were very quick to point out that it was none of their doing and all was dictated by the clubhouse , they even looked ashamed of the offering from the club.

But the event is a real eye opener to see what other clubs are doing and what alternatives are on offer!!!
