Need a new windscreen

Have you had your's replaced ?

Were you satisfied ? Who did you use ?

Felt like a meteor dropping out of the sky when a large stone recently hit mine. Car travelling in opposite way kicked it up. It's left a chip the size of a golf ball.

I had my windscreen replaced 18 months ago. I suggest you only use a firm that is trained by Porsche to fit windscreens as it's not a straightforward affair. Even my OPC sends cars back to the Porsche approved bodyshop for windscreens.

If your insurance company tell you that you have to use Autoglass etc ... explain the situation to them and keep going higher up the ladder till somebody understands and accepts what you're saying - they'll accept it eventually - this is what I had to do with Directline. In order to convince them, just make sure they understand that if it's not perfect, you'll keep coming back to them to rectify it. A common fault is a squeaky windscreen.

Good luck.

Yep, I had a new windscreen fitted on 17/5/06 due to a flying stone too. It was fitted by Autoglass through Privilige and it's fine. I specifically asked whether it was an "official" Porsche screen and whether it had the aerial embedded in it, to which the answers were "yes". I've had no problems whatsoever.

I think, as the verdict was on my Chipsway thread of last year after my car had been keyed, that with a lot of these companies it comes down to the individual who performs the work.

Of course, whoever performs the work, you have a right to expect rectification if you're not happy.
