Need help finding insurer for 997 Turbo EVT700

Does anyone have suggestions on where to buy specialist insurance for a heavilly modified 997 Turbo? It has an EVT700 kit claiming 700bhp, PCCB, Cargraphoic exhaust, upgraded clutch, wheels and suspension, GT2 body, white vinyl wrap with Martini stripes, HRE wheels.

I've tried Adrian Flux, Aon, Aplan and Footman James. All were referred to the underwriters as expected but came back as can't quote. I'm in a low risk area, full NCB, history of 911s, limited mileage, etc. Paid £540 for comprehensive cover on the same car before the mods.

Please can anyone recommend where or how I can get insurance? Thanks.

Hi Darren

I wondered who bought Nick's car off him! A very well known car across all the internet forums.

I myself am with AON but I started with them from the factory spec car and mod'ed from there. They are fine with all my mods and none of them increase my premium (which I couldn't believe!).

You say you have tried AON though, hmm, not sure what to advize.

is this the car on cover of porsche world? was in black originally? i know the guy that detailed it a few times.....

Thanks for your replies. Yes it is the car on the cover of Porsche World, originally in black. I managed to sort out the insurance today. The usual suspects wouldn't quote and I eventually got a home fleet policy for my three cars from a smaller independent. :)

Home fleet ?

Sounds interesting, I have four cars cluttering the drive. Any details you could let me hav e?

Just make sure any policy covers not only the mods but all factoy fitted extras - loads of companies will only pay out market value for a base spec version of the car , not for options even though you declre them at the start and some even add extra for them to your premium !!

Surely that's only for new cars? Second hand cars are just insured for what you paid for them (ie. the options have all lost their value anyway) and what the car is currently worth, no?

Unfortunately not declairing the factory fitted extras can be used to invalidate your insurance on a claim - especially if its seen as performance related or improving the looks and the car is either stolen or written off.
