I have a slight problem with my MY87 944 Turbo. I knew I should not have left it outside in the rain for 3 weeks but I was away and no barsteward about here even thought of putting it indoors []
I jumpstarted it and it fired up no problem. It was a bit damp inside so I ran it for a while with the heater on ... again no problem. I decided to take it a run and it behaved itself. First blast and it boosted no problem and settled back to 1.5bar. Then it cut... just like I had switched off the ignition. I had a problem before with overboost but I am sure the wastegate was open this time. I pulled over and tried to start it. It turned as normal but refused to fire up. It backfired a few times as well. We got our recovery truck out and for the first time in 7 years of ownership she left me stranded. [:(]
Back at base in the morning I checked through a few things. Dizzy cap, leads, even went to the passenger side floor and checked for damp.... Everythin was 100%. So I turned the key and hey presto ... She started no problem and settled in to idle .... The b**ch.... I took her a run and no problem....! I left her run outside and somewhere she had cut out again...I had to leave her as I got distracted ...! I have started her this morning and moved her indoors..... I am now at a loss and I would need to find out the problem as I dont want her to leave me stranded again..!. Have any of you fellas experienced any thing like this before....? I am thinking that maybe the crank sensor is past its best as it was a sudden cut and then she backfired as I tried to restart her....Any help gents would be appreciated as my head is wrecked....[:'(][][:(]

I feel like a total twat now...[&:] Checking this and that... I should have gone there first.....! I took the relay out and it looks about 15 years old. I took the top off and the contacts are in pretty bad shape. New one en route from Belfast as I type.......[;)]

Cheers guys for your help... I'll keep you posted on how she goes [;)]

You could try refraining from calling your car "She" and "Her".

Well thats the way we do things around these parts.... I never noticed I did that before in fairness.... Its a Donegal thing to call a car "She " and "Her" instead of "it"...... Everyone about here refer to their car as "She"... Even the girls.....[:D]

I am going to have to stop it - people will start getting the wrong idea...

Picture walking in on this conversation " I took out her DME relay and that fixed her problem" [&:]

Cheers Darren [:D]

I have to say the day you stop calling your lil 944 she or he is the day to sell her because you've lost the connection!!! lol [:D]
Mine even calls me mister back, I swear I can hear her when were out at night!

Hmmm, none so confused as in Dorset... I stopped in a petrol station once whilst transporting a Bull (not behind the 944 for once)... After being told what was thrashing around in the back of the trailer, the pump attendant looked in the back, and yelled to his mate "'ere Bert, look at the Balls on 'er!!!"[&:]
