New member
I've just bought a 1983 944, but the body is 1990 something.O/S wing rusting from inside so am assuming worst and will have to replace it. Does anybody know of a good picture site, or dates of body upgrades etc I could check up on. I have pictures stored on computer but do'nt know how to post them here. Might? be able to send to an e-mail address.

If anybody knows what they sell for - new or used that would be helpful.

Thanking uou in advance.

Amazed that worked. First time for putting a photo on a site. Not the best of photos, but hopefully one of you cleaver people can tell what wing spec. to ask for.
Thanx

The body is not 1990 it's pre '85.5; it has the 924 style windscreen.

I'm not aware that there is any difference with wings over the years anyhow, you either need a Lux wing (like your's) or an S2/Turbo wing.

Now I'm confused. I did'nt mean body as entire shell. I know the front wings and valance have been upgraded to look like a newer model. Only had car a few days, from the little I know I don,t need a 1980,s wing - would S2 be correct.? Sorry to sound dumb, but my 944 and I don't know each other very well yet. Only went on first date on Monday!

would S2 be correct.?

The Lux and S2/Turbo wings are different shapes at the front where they hit the nose section.

Much will depend on which type of nose you have. There is an aftermarket kit available which has a GRP nose and retains the original Lux wings. (Porsche S2/Turbo front sections are made of PU not GRP). I would anticipate that it is this that has been fixed to your car as the lower lamp clusters look non standard.

If you could post some more pictures of the front corner, where the wings join the nose, this might help.

OK. As John says it's the front corners of the wings that we need to see.

I still stand by my original statement though that there are only 2 types: Lux and S2/Turbo and they are completely different at the front so it will be easy to tell if you post a pic of that part of the car.

When I learn to take my own pictures, I will post some here. Not really an urgent problem, just an eye sore.Computer course needed!!!

If it helps the Turbo/S2 wing has a fairly gentle swooping curve where the wing meets the nosecone whereas the Lux wing has a sharp right angle where it meets the bumper.

Your badge panel looks like a lux ( flatter in the middle of the front edge)

I will post pics of my lux & Turbo later

got to go out now

Mike

Thanks Flamingeye for your photos. My wing is the same as you red car J459. Next stupid question - what model is that?

That is an 944s2 wing then.
If you look at www.911virgin.com you will see my other cars[;)] (I wish)

2 seconds. Get in!

BTW Turbo / S2 fronts were launched in 1985 but only on cars with the flush windscreen and oval dash so yours with the original 924 style scren (and dash I imagine) has been altered. That's what you said all along of course and I admit I was unconvinced at one time [8D]

Thanks very much folks. Yes Fen - 924 screen and dash.

Now I know what I'm looking for - 944s2- Hello ebay and scrapyards.
