Need info on service for 996

Hi everyone, I just need a bit of info on sevice intervals for my 1999 996. The last service was carried out at 31k miles before I got the car. The car has now done 43k miles and is due a service. Before I speaker to the dealers, I was hoping you guys could give me some info so I dont sound too clueless when I speak to them[:)]

Firstly, am I right in thinking that the correct service interval is every 12k miles - if so, how much does a standard 12k mile service cost?
If anybody could list what items are included in this service, i' d be very grateful.

When is the car due a major service .i.e cambelt change. How much would I be looking at for this service?

Thanks for your help

You should have a service record book which explains all?????

Minor service is 12k or annually - Major is 24k or two yearly. List is a mile long, belts are due at 84k I think. Cost varies but I think it is about £250 for a minor and £350 for a major. You will save a lot by supplying your own oil (Mobil 1 naturally), but this will be eaten up by the other things they find. [][]

I usually budget a grand and treat myself if I have any change left[:D]

Wise words from Tim, although I think the major service will set you back more than £350 !! The only thing I was going to add was...make sure you shop around, I have found OPC prices vary quite a lot & they will "wheel & deal" if you barter it bit !! As the saying goes, look after the pennies & the pounds look after themselves !!!!!!!!!!!
