Oh well, I managed 150 miles after the head gasket replacement before the waterpump went!
Could anyone recommend the best place to get a new one from?

Cheers!

Mike.

Sorry to hear your news Mike. As far as I am aware the water pump is a Porsche specific item and I would be surprised if you could get one cheaper than from your OPC.

Obviously an "...after the horse has bolted" comment but, it is generally suggested that, if there is no indication that a water pump has been replaced in 100K miles, it is worth replacing at the next belt change. The pump is IRO £120 but the labour to replace the pump in isolation is significant.

£120 will be for an exchange unit and you will need to send back your old one. New pumps come in at double this price... There are also two main types of pumps with small differences. Both will fit but depending on what car you have you may need a blanking plate (non turbo) and a guide kit if its an older 2.5 N/A and you recieve a new (turbo) pump...

Mine had the guides but needed the blanking plate.

Thanks for the replies - Bert had a new pump & a complete fitting kit (mine had the old pump) which he is shipping me today.
