need suspension help please

I think (as a complete unit with springs) that they would fit, but why would you want to fit the suspension from an 84 Lux onto an 87 S?

Most websites (Berlyn, Porscheshop, Design911) seem to list struts for 84-86 cars, then 86-89 cars then 89 S2 and Turbo onwards. The 86-89 struts for your car seem to be £65 brand new from Berlyn

I would call Bert at Berlyn and ask him (he is the 944 Tech Rep and is very helpful), he'll obviously try and flog you some of his struts but he'll give you good advice. He does have a yacht to maintain as well [:D]

I'm with Paul on this one ~ new shocks are relatively cheap for your car. If there is nothing wrong with your springs ~ that's what I'd go for.

Those ones (on ebay) look pretty clean, but with bolts and springs on the dampers, they have most definately been on a car...... could be 15K miles on them for all you know (?).

edit: Just checked and EuroCarParts have them listed for £68 + Vat each side. Call Stu at the Leeds branch using the sticky at the top of the 944 section and see what he can do for you. [:)]

hi

if thats all they are new for the complete strut i think i will just get new ones, the reason i am looking for complete struts is mine are very rusty they look like the originals from 1987, the brackets for holding the flex brake pipes have rusted off, i was going to weld them back on but there is nothing to weld to, so i was looking through e-bay for koni shocks or struts and came across that set

I dont think they will fit, I think the hole spacing is slightly different and they are a different thickness on the hub,

I am 100% sure they are the same,

If you are changing the struts check the top mounts, as the bearing housings crack

Well after spending half a day trying to fit a post 87 shock to an 86 car (oval dash with alloy arms but pre abs offset hub) I am 100% certain they are different. It looked like it was just slightly too narrow so I filed and ground it out a bit. It then slipped over the hub and the holes were out of alignment. Thankyou german and swedish for selling me the wrong one. I'll think you'll find spax sell stuff for the up to 86 cars and not for the later cars as well. I still have the brand new but mangled shock in the garage.

I agree with Tony. My mate has my old '86 Turbo which is alloy arms and pre-ABS offset and nothing swaps with later Turbos unless you change the whole lot; wishbone, strut, top mount and brake calliper.
