Hi everyone, just want to enthuse with the like minded here...

Just put down the requisite deposit for September delivery of 997 turbo.

It's to have the new PCM with touch screen, ipod & Bluetooth prep.

Can't wait for delivery as especially I've tentatively agreed with the supplying OPC a PX on my 997 C2S Coupe X51. They're coming to get it this week so I'll be Porscheless till September. Ho hum.

Anyone know of anyone who wants a really good, immaculate in fact, Arctic silver 6,900 miles 997 C2S with factory fitted X51 Power kit?

Thanks,

Greg

Hi,

The OPC are offering £56K for my X51 with only 6,900 miles since new from October 06. Seems low & It'd do better on Pistonheads I guess but there's the extra hassle & I've never sold privately before.

The call from the OPC was on Friday last & a bit rushed. They'd just been allocated a 997 Turbo with the new touch screen PCM & ipod connectivity thingy. Initial spec on the turbo is:-

GT Silver, black leather.
Sports Chrono.
Sports seats.
Cruise control.
Side skirts.
Rear apron, skirts and front spoiler painted.
Read light clusters.
Bluetooth phone prep.
Parking sensors.
VTS.

Can't afford the yellow ceramics so I've not specced those. OPC said I might like the stainless Turbo kickplates but these seem to be just extra weight. No rear wiper selected (should I go for this? - I don't have this on my X51 997). No Porsche logo on the seats. I might ask for heated seats but not sure.

The phone deposit has secured the car with the initial spec but I can change it this week. No idea what the entire touch screen PCM is about. My daughters might like this ipod connectivity.

Any other spec suggestions appreciated.

Thank you

Greg

I like the GT silver and the spec looks good.
I believe they are offering a heated steering wheel now ?? Most people laugh when I mention this but I had one on an SLK and it was great in the cold mornings even with the roof down. If you're getting heated seats I'd get the wheel as well.
I also think the small carbon pack for the handbrake and gearstick looks good, but that's more personal I guess.
Cheers

Thanks there. I'll ask about the heated steering wheel. I liked it too when they gave me a loan Cayenne once.

Thanks,

Greg

If I may ask, is there any particular reason for the upgrade, is there that much difference between the 2 in terms of power to warrant to £50.000 required? You do not need PCCB unless you track the car, I love heated seats (it gets my wife is far better mood when I buy cars that have it!), as for steering wheel, only my wife would apreciate this, although you never know until you use it!

Agree that the huge extra cost is hard to justify for the extra power. Suppose some people prefer the sudden 'turbo' delivery, whilst others prefer the more linear, normally aspirated, delivery.

Disagree about pccbs though. They have numerous benefits in road use. Although the latest pccbs are brilliant on track, and they seem to be lasting a full race season in the Porsche Supercup, there are plenty of reasons for speccing them on a road going 911 that justify the cost..

hi jag

had a 997 c2 cab
big diffrence in power and drive-also useable for everyday use
car feels so more planted to road
havent got ceramic brakes
price differnce from cab to turbo 27k

Thanks Chris,

£26k new, but 2nd hand with a sale price of £56K? You had 325bhp moving on to 450, X51 is on 381 so half way there.

I am not trying to criticise, no one needs a 911 or "more" power (I tuned my 997S so who I am to talk), just asking really.

OMG [], chris looks to be missing 30bhp from his car.... [;)]

997TT is 480bhp not the 450 (if thats what you're on about[;)])
The way the Turbo plants it down to the road surface is what part of the appeal is, not just the numbers...

The X51 is very good, but its not the TT.. but as you say not everyones after that sort of delivery...
