Hi all, Spoke to a guy at a porsche specialist in dorset called cool it. I purchased a new hood from him last year, and he said that the trimmer he uses has fitted these to the earlier cars (pre 02) by making a alteration of the mechanism.
He has succsessfully done this many times i was told. We have all been told that this cannot be done, but he begs to differ.
Might be worth giving him a call. His number i believe is in porsche post if not it is in porsche and 911 world.
Good luck.
regards dawson.

The frame differs between OEM glass and plastic window hoods. The only way to fit a Porsche glass window hood to a pre-facelift car is to replace the entire hood assembly. Firms like BAS International fit a glass window hood to a plastic window frame by modifying the way the hood attaches to the frame. In essence the rib above the window is not secured to the hood.

I thought the BAS hood worked by having a smaller rear window thus not needing to bend while folding. Does it attach differently as well...?

Yes, as John says, one of the hood frame bows is left unattached.
