Hi All,
I have just brought by first 911SC 1980 and have found all your posts excellent. I need some help on a few issues - Firstly the rear defogger does not work the switch lights up on both stages but it does not clear. I also have an issue with the cold air and warm air blowers but I have already read all the posts on that area. I would like to thank you all for your help in advance

Hi VIP, I also lost my virginity recentley when I purchased my first Porsche a 1977 911sc, and what an exciteing ride it is to.
I will whach your threads with interest as time goes on as I am also in the middle of stripping my 911 for the winter.
I also have a few problems I need to get over but at present have concentrated and strippng and rebuilding all 4 calipers, I done the front 2 last July and what a difference this made to the braking, not to mention giving my arms an easyer life not having to wrestle with it.
One of the other problems I have is similar to yours as is a problem with the fog light switch, or I think I have one as I am not up on all the switches as yet and what they are all supposed to do, I would be grateful if you could pass on any info you have managed to pick up regarding the fog switch and any others come to that,
Cheers for now and look forward to your threads.

Hey welcome , great choice of car , post some pics. First place to check for the window demister is the rear engine compartment , there are three/four relays together in there , that may be your problem. If the window has been out for replacement of the seal, glass or repainting at some time the wiring may not hve been hooked up, check the relay first.

Welcome to you VIP & BAZZ with your first SC you won't regret it ,I have had my 1983 Targa for four years and I still get that buzz every time I drive it.

You are both posted a non members is this correct?

I took my car out yesterday in the sunshine and had a blast, I was eager to try out the new gear shift bushes I have just replaces and it has sharpened up the gear shift a treat ,especially first, so it's an easy job I recommend you put on your to do list.

There is a photo gallery for 911SC so as said by Bones put some photos on the gallery, the button is on the top of the page next to Mail PCGB
Cheers
John

Hi John, theres one thing I have found since owning this car is that anyone ever having owned or driven an old porsche has an amazeing passion for them, I purchased mine having just sat in & not even driven my friends 911 Turbe Targa, I bought my 911sc just 2 weeks later from a friend who had not driven it for nearly 2 years.
I cannot speak for Vip but I became a Porsche GB Club member in December so am not to sure why I have been logged in as a non member, as for a few photo's you may have to wait a while as I removed the car from the road to do some work before taking any pic's, but as soon as it comes out the garage I will submit a few.

As I venture further into this project I am going to find a few more items I may need help with so would like to thank you all for any forthcoming help you may need to offer me.

Cheers Baz

P.S been lucky up to now! is there a spell check facility on these pages?

Hi Guys and welcome.

I also recently lost my 911 cherry after a succession of several fantastic 4-pots. I seem to be quite lucky with my car in that the last owner has maintained the car meticulously over the last 20 years of his ownership.

However I also have a (suspected) caliper problem in that there is an intermittent howl from the front of the car on right-hand turns. It clears with a sharp press of the brake pedal but spoils an otherwise flawless drive. The car is due to go to Brin Miller in Edinburgh soon for a service and caliper repair.

I hope we all get plenty of fun out of our cars in the coming months. I don't think I will ever tire of being a "911 owner!"

(just added my own gallery album)

Hi John,
Great car, looks fantastic a credit to you. This is the first SC I have seen with this interior colour scheme, very nice too.

Hi bd,
Great photos, nice colour too.
I was told a little copper slip grease on the back of the pads stops pad screech? might be worth a try.
Cheers
John

Hi Bazzer,
You will find that the forum will provide a wealth of information especially from bones, the amount I have learned in four years is amazing.
Cheers
John

Cheers guys for the welcome,
The pic's of the sc's are great, it's so unusual to see any porsches let alone the older ones on the roads round by us so it's nice to know there's plenty around still, and looking so good.

I thought the idea of posting a couple of pictures was a good idea, so I have added my 1982 green example. The interior is pure 80's, namely green with yellow inserts - actually not as bad as it sounds.

Blimey John I'm seeing green after looking at your car. Great colour though. Mind you I'm speaking as the ex owner of a s**t Brown 2.7 and a LHD 964 with the most violent bright red full leather interior. 70s Porsche colour schemes take some beating don't they [:D]

Hi All,
Thanks for the messages all you have sent. I will take a look at the connections in the engine compartment for the defogger next week. Baz hope your having fun owning your car. I will have some pics in the next few days which I would love to share with you. I am very sorry for the late reply been out of the country. John I will have a look at the gear link bushes as well next week. My sister owns a silver 993 and we have been comparing cars this week. I am truly addicted and look forward to Spring sumer where we are planning a drive through the south of france.

Vip,
I bought my shift rod bushes (2-off) from type-911, cost approx £15.00 for both including P&P.
If you need any advise on how to fit them let me know.
Cheers
John
