Hello and welcome to the madhouse ! Sounds like you have got yourself a mighty fine car there, hopefully your enjoyment factor will far outweight any potential expenses. [][] Will be great to see some pics and get your first impressions of her (hopefully all good!). Falkens are good tyres imho, though as always you will probably get as many differing opinions as folk who gfive answers on that one. [] As for Porscheshop, personally have never had any problems in my limited dealings with them, though quite a few others have had grief. There are other vendors out there such as Design911, but you may well find that for alot of mechanical parts at least the OPC's will offer better value for money as all the vendors do is buy the same stock and add their mark-ups.

Looks like you got a good car there, the Porsche logo interior is very durable and therefore the best imho, exhaust from OPC isnt going to be cheap (over £1000?) and there are others available from RPM, etc. If your getting the timing belt done it might be prudent to change the cam chain tensioner at the same time as this is a service item that is often overlooked. I did when I got my S2 last year, it gives you piece of mind too. My first service, 12,000 miles, belts, cam tensioner and a few other small things came to just over 1K. Well worth it though as good S2's are rarer these days and you wont get a more enjoyable car to drive at this money. Love the driving position,etc. Enjoy, and welcome. Edd

Hopefully its a good one.....will get some pics up on collection day for all to see and pass judgement. I wasn't expecting a new OPC exhaust to be quite that expensive so it looks like the ripspeed number will be staying for a while.....have no idea how good / bad it is, but at least it isn't one of these boom box numbers. Performance gains?.......I doubt it. I spoke to Strasse porsche in Leeds before buying the car and he quoted 300 for the belts and their fixed price 12,000 mile service is just over 300. Will enquire about the cam chain tensioner when I take it in. They seem friendly and judging by the cars in the workshop when I went in they are popular (orange 356 FH, GT3 RS, turbo's etc!). Have to say I hope the first bill isn't for over a grand! Cheers

How exciting.....just bought my first porsche after 9 months looking, a brief flirtation with a boxster (hence the name) and an embarrassing spin on a test drive in the wet!!

Black half leather interior
67,000 mile (yes 67k!!)
Lots of receipts, all old MOT's, stamped up service book
Standard other than a ripspeed exhaust (not sure about this modification, might change for an OPC system at some point)

The plan so far.......
-Collect on Wednesday (will post pics asap)
-Book into Strasse for timing belt and a service (done recently but want to be sure all is well!). Fingers crossed no hidden nasties!
-Replace tyres......all have good tread but are non-matching. From research on the forum am going for the Falkens unless anyone thinks otherwise.
-Buy fitted mats (actually just bought some from porscheshop.co.uk.......anyone know anything about them for future purchases?)

This is going to get pricey I feel!!

Concours or track?? Undecided as yet!

Welcome on board Simon. Hopefully it's a good find and you are certainly doing the right thing getting it checked over straight away. Definately get them to inspect the cam chain and change the tensioner slippers at the very least. At 67k miles you shoudn't need the chain changing until around 100k so you should have plenty more miles left in it yet. Plenty of pics please []

Cheers Phil. Have been on the porschetek website and their service menu is certainly cheaper than strasse. 250 for the major service compared with 330 at strasse. Will certainly be checking them out and getting some quotes. Have you ever used strasse? Am in North Leeds. Is there much porsche club stuff going on in Yorkshire? I was looking at the events calender and there doesn't seem to be much? Do any track days?

Hi Simon I've never used Strasse myself. Give them a call and get a price. Porschtek were great when they did my service last month -the 2 guys that run it do all the work and they showed me what they had done up on the ramp when I went to collect it. They are not far from Elland Road football ground, convenient for me as I work in the centre of Leeds. No bought from a garage.........HPI'd, new MOT and taxed. I honestly don't think he knew how nice an example it is (pending its first trip to a porsche specialist who'll probably tell me its rubbish!). Previous owner traded it in against an automatic boxster as he is registered disabled (including on the V5) and couldn't drive it any more.......hence the low mileage and lack of thrashing! Gutted I missed the big harewood meet......lots of people there? Am looking forwards to getting involved with the club and attending some events.......one of the reasons i wanted a 944 I guess!

Good to know another person likes the falkens. Am definately going for a set. What tyre pressures do people run? Anyone got nitrogen in them?? What oil do people use in S2's? I've been reading some threads and there seems to be lots of controversy. I was going to go for castrol magnatec 10w40 semi-synth. Let me know if this is wrong. Might get to pick up the car tomorrow if the insurance cover note has made it to tha garage so he can tax it! Sooooo excited!

After having a chat with a few specialists today (PH Sportscars of Derby and PCT in Coventry) it seems that 15W40 is the oil of choice, and that anything thinner than 10W40 is a bit too thin for the car. Oh and welcome. I am also a new owner and your car looks great .

Cheers guys. Weather been better today and am on annual leave so been cruising around West Yorkshire........well when i say cruising I mean hammering! Found some great roads out around Harrogate. All I can say is I'm blown away.......hope the feeling never wears off. Had a slight concern when I thought it would'nt fit in the garage.......just squeezed it in (and I mean just!). Have now lined the wall with some carpet to stop any accidental door opening paint damage. Sorry about the windscreen wiper positioning on the photo! Was trying to lower the Cd coefficient!!

just a quick update.........been to the local porsche specialist (Strasse) to give it good check over and come up with a maintenance plan.......all good news and was impressed by Strasse. They got it up on the ramps and let me have a good look around while they checked everything.....they were very impressed to my relief! All thats needed is a service, belts and brake fluid. Prices seem sensible too! Get the car back on Monday and then she can come out of the garage and get used properly. Anyone off to Blenheim? Think I'll probably go down might even enter it in the concours....get some really harsh criticism!
