I've purchased a S2 cab of ebay today [:D] The sun is out and all is right with the world.

Quick question, the hood looks a little dry what is best to refinish the roof?

Once I've done this , it's time to sort the rust, get a services and all the other little problems that come with a new car.

I've got a great quote on the insurance though Classic Line are they any good?

Well done Colin! Not sure about what to put on the hood, in the past mine on the Boxster's or back on my old 964 when they needed hoods the problems were of such massiveness that I bought a new hood! Good luck with the S2, I really miss 944's not owned one for about 7 or 8 years now :(

Renovo has had some positive comments, but I've never tried it personally, or there are dyes available. I just used car shampoo in warm water on mine. Does the hood have all the stitching in place around the top of where the B-pillar would be on the coupe? If not it's probably worn beyond the point it's going to look as good as new again regardless of what you do to it.

Hi, been away so just catching up on threads. As regards cleaning a cab roof I used the Autoglym kit. Very hard work but all grey areas went and roof is like new. The secret is a really good vacuum and then with the rough sponge provided scrub like hell using the first liquid. This generates a white foam and a lot of black foam!!! It then takes ages to wash this off as the water invigorates the foam again but stick with it - then apply the 2nd liquid. It does work - try it. Enjoy the cab - they are great cars and ALWAYS turn heads!!! Frazer

I've been told by other people that the Autoglym kit gets great results - but to use it only when necessary. Once the hood is clean, I agree with Fen - just car shampoo in warm water (not the type with wax in!) keeps the hood in good condition. I use Zymol autowash. Then as Frazerb says "Enjoy the cab" - but make sure you protect your own soft top with suncream - as after Silverstone I had an Azurite Blue car with a Guards Red head![]
