New 993 owner

It last, after 18 months of research, search, dither and worry, I have my 993C4 and I'm very happy.

Actually I got it a couple of weeks ago but I've been too busy driving it to post anything here!

Thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum. By the time I had been reading this for a while I felt much more confident that I was making a rational choice.

Looking forward to learning a lot more now.

Experience so far has been so different from anything else I've driven, although the only "sports" car I've owned was a 1970 MGB-GT about 10 years ago, so I don't have a lot to compare it with. Unfortunately, driving my 2006 RAV4 (which I used to enjoy) is now like using an electric lawn mower. Anyway, I've seen another post that says other cars are just for when it does not fit in the 993.

I live in Scotland so really wanted this car for driving way up north. I'm used to packing a lot of climbing or mountain biking gear in the car at weekends, I need to find a way to cut down on gear!

Congratulations. 993 ownership puts a permanent smile on your face with only the odd wince when you get a garage bill.

Enjoy!

I've been lucky enough to own and drive a lot of 911s, and had two C2 993s in the '90s.

Interestingly, though, two of the nicest 911s I've ever driven were both C4 993s (both manual, varioram, coupes). So, I can endorse your choice.

Well done that man.
They really are great cars and still one of the prettiest 911s in my opinion.
Things to watch out for -
Rattling windscreen due to the bond between glass and bodyshell wearing out, and lower cam covers leaking oil.

Apart from that pretty bulletproof. Enjoy.

Excellent choice and a two way investment at this point in time.

Currently rising fast in monetary terms but the real investment is in joy of ownership and the drive. Enjoy

There is a downside of driving a 993 ..

When you're driving it, you can't see the beautiful shape, unless vanity catches you looking for a reflection in a shop window !

After all, the 993 and probably the 964s are the most elegant 911s.

Certainly, the connoisseur's choice [;)].
And if you want to exploit it: that little bit extra progress through the gears, the extra surefootedness in the wet and spray around the twisties, compared to the regular 2's, as well as stiffer engine mounts and greater stability / better front:rear balance - what is there not to like ... ?

Thanks guys, I have to admit the driving experience is amazing, the more I drive it the better it feels, I even went to a business meeting in it today instead of the Cayenne!! 300 miles of pure enjoyment and even when I get home and park it in the garage I can't stop walking round looking at it. It truly is a beautiful car.

Is this normal or am I having a mid life crisis??
