Hi

Picked up my car yesterday - amazing! Shame about the 50mph limit on the M1 home, but still managed to have a lot of fun!.

Mechanically its sounds having spend a few quid at Cavendish in Derby. There are a few things I'd like a little advice on cosmetically, and as i cant see a 'search' function on the forum i thought i'd ask you...

1. Couple of scratches - nohting too deep, but enough to annoy me! - Am going to try Scratch X - but does anyone know a good touch up specialist near london that doesn't cost the earth... There are 2, one noticeable one on the spoiler a a less deep one on the bonnet (faint but annoying). Ive a newish merc as the family car, and when i bought it the dealer scratched the car (he spent 500 quid fising it) - I'm hoping to find a cheaper (but good) way of sorting the scratches without a respray...

2. Interior - there is a small plastic cover missing on the navigation unit, again annoying, I cant seem to search (well find) it on google.... Any ideas?

3. Seats, the front seats could do with a little restoration - filling cracks etc - dynamix leather dye kits look good, any advice on others? and if using dynamix - how can you tell what 'finish' to buy (matt, gloss, satin...)

4. Interior panels - could of smallish scrapes / any ideas on how to get these looking as good as poss? (other than replacing)

thanks - and sorry to ask soooo many quesitons

Hello and congrats on the new car!

1) I recently posted the details of a mobile body repair guy I recently used for someone else on here as I was really impressed with the results on my wife's new tiguan. His name is Gary of London Bumper Repair and can be reached on 07540 073 268. We're based in north London and he was happy coming here. He usually asks for a picture and will only undertake if he can get it perfect. He actually turned down a job on my 996 for this reason.
2) there are schematic diagrams available through the site to full members which will help you find any part.
3) I've used dynamix and they will supply the correct dye by the paint code which will give the correct colour match. Personally I wait for it to cure and then buff with a decent leather feed to a soft sheen.
4) again, I would get the correct colour from dynamix and clean the whole panel with something ph balanced, like baby wipes, and just try touching it in with a tiny bit of the colour dye - I would only attempt this if its minor blemishes.

I really hope this helps.
Enjoy the turbo... beautiful cars!!
John

Scratches rule of thumb is if you can get your finger nail into it then it won't polish out. The spoiler shouldn't cost much to respray.

I've used liquid leather a lot and it works, if you are dyeing a whole seat then it may take 4 to 6 coats to get like new, they supply in matt with a gloss enhancer for the last coat. The shine should come from your leather feed with a buff afterwards.
As per Johns advice.
