Part exchange; goes next week. Don't ask about the losses - just don't ask!!! Suffice to say, none of the options count for anything. £16,000 loss in a year!!! Don't want to discuss it anymore. The bottom has dropped out of the Boxster market; the cars are losing at least £600 per month and the part exchange start price for one of the early 987S cars is around £33,500 at the moment.

Derek congrats on the new toy shame about the depreciation on the 987 but I think you will find it certainly isn't just Boxsters that are affected by the current economic situation. A friend of mine bought a brand new SLK55AMG last month with a whopping £5000 discount. Another is struggling to get £30K back on a 15 month old SLK350 8K miles and fully loaded costing around £45K new! Another recent example for you a fully loaded Audi Convertible TT 3.2DSG £36K new he struggled and finally got £20K, the car was 22 months old and 11K miles

Quite right. Unfortunately, the whole of the prestige market seems to be suffering, with only a few 'must have' exceptions, and even these will run their course.

And it isn't a reflection on the quality of the cars. 986/987s and 996/997s are still fantastic, but the over-availability of new examples has compressed the prices of used ones.

Yet, most of us are the same. We wander into the showroom, full of optimism, spec up the next one, thinking "This is the one. Perfect Spec. I'll look after it and keep it indefinitely. It'll hold its value....". Whilst grudgingly turning a blind eye to the dealer's derisory offer on our last great piece of wisdom.

If we didn't keep buying new cars, the residuals on used ones would be far, far stronger. Perhaps there should be a rule that new cars cannot be traded-in for three years[;)]

I think you're right - and I'm pleased that the C4S has a sensible selection of options. However, out of choice, I'd have selected the sunroof and lost one or more of the rear parking sensors, crested head restraints, phone module or multi-function steering wheel.

Gary,

In many ways - you're to blame for the change!!! After Max saw your green TT our goal was to have a 911; at last we're going to achieve it!

See you soon?

Del

[][][][] sorry [:(][:(][:(][:(]

but [:D] all the best, I see you've followed my current colour scheme, bloomin hard to keep looking clean.
A great choice of car you have gone for this time, hope to see you about.

Hi Del, welcome to the other side ! You'll love it, a sensible spec too. Great to have you on board, post some pics when you get it.

Thanks Rob; at least TMC will be functional on this car!!![;)]

Is there a 997 Register windscreen 'sticker'?

If I've taken delivery before 31 March, I might be seeking a place on the Jaguar visit; is a late call okay?

Del

No sticker at the mo. Derek tried way back when. We tried to use this, but we're told it was non-compliant...

All ideas for a sticker gratefully received ! What do other registers use ??

Non-compliant with what or who? Is this yet another Big Brother or Nanny State issue imposed by Porsche AG?
Maybe we should seek approval each time we drive our own cars down the street! Perhaps the "Approval Authority" should provide a selection of "Suitable" images.

I wish that I understood the benefits of the Club's formal ties to Porsche GB. Recently, all that I've seen are the downsides of which the 'compliancy' of a sticker is an example - then there was Helen's attempt to get LIPS started, Geoff's IOM trip, a lack of support for the TMC issue. Why can't it be simple - like a club is supposed to be?

Perhaps the 'agreement' with Porsche GB should be made available for all members to see; it could be placed in the 'members' area' - saving those interested in a reading it us all a trip to Cornbury House!

How about something like this, which IS an official Porsche image with added text. Sorry, not very good with Paint package but you get the general idea.

The 996 is the 996 logo (numbers) so surely OK and an oultine...

Shouldn't see a problem with that [&:]

Lucky chap!! I specced my C4S back in November, and the 3 month wait until March delivery has been agony - you are lucky you will only have 4-6 weeks, although even that will appear endless!

Spec is pretty reasonably too - notthing 'essential' missing - although I would have added the Spors shifter and changed the multi-function wheel for the thick rim sports wheel. I'd also have chosen sports seats (or adaptive sports seats).

Enjoy !

Hi,

Did they say how this image could be "non compliant" ?

I cannot see any Porsche copyright material here?

Presumably with our "close ties with Porsche" we could get a clear statement on what it is we need to compy with...?

Pete

Hi Rob,

With regard to the Windscreen sticker, I actually did the design and submitted it for selection along with some other entries. My entry was picked by a panel when the 996 register had a visit to Porsche GB - Prize was was a Porsche Selection "Mug"

I think we should do something along those lines !

Regards

Andrew
