Posting in here so as not to upset the 911 dudes [;)]

Someone on another forum just posted this link.

Dubai Porsche Centre

Exchange rate approx 7.12 Dirhams to the £ apparently, which makes a poverty spec 997 less than £36.9K. And Porsche are [[probably [8|] not selling them at a loss in that market [&:]

I know Porsche are massively profitable...... no wonder eh?

(PS ~ base Boxster < £23K too)

And that makes a 997 GT3 RS £60,275.17

Right I am off to get my flight ticket.

Anyone got a VERY LARGE Suitacase[:D]

That is probably the tourist rate. Actual money market rate today is 7.25, which makes the price even more mouthwatering. When I worked in the Emirates a few years ago the exchange rate was only 5 to the pound.[:(]
When nosing around the Porsche dealership I was informed that the cars were to US spec, whatever that meant. The price comparison then didn't seem so attractive and I hadn't fallen for the 997, which didn't exist then.

Ok, then a Malaysian spec, very near to C16.

Thats where a lot of leasing companies in the UK get there Boxster from!

Guys,

C'mon - puurrrllleease! This is the 944 forum - we know that we own the best, so what are we worrying about prices of these over-sexed beetles for? Porsche only made two water-cooled models - the 928 and the 924/944/968 series. The original AND the best. Why would we want to even think about these modern pretenders?

So, er, cost of flights to Dubai - how much? And what would anyone give me for a decent S2 ... Baltic over Linen, recent belts and CV's ... all offers welcome ...

Oli.

I have every confidence that Porsche's approach to the Dubai market is very different to the UK - perhaps people are more discerning in the middle east.

It never ceases to amaze me what awful customer service and "over a barrel" prices UK buyers will put up with just to have a Porsche - 20 years ago it was the same with BMWs and I haven't been to a BMW dealership since.

Even at these bargain prices, I can't afford one, so I thought I'd stun you all with a bit of geeky info...

Google has a calculator built in now, so if you type "266800 AED in GBP" (without the quotes) into Google's search box, you get the answer "£36,380.04"

It also works for stuff like "5 gallons in litres"

So, if you're suitably impressed, donations via Paypal to my_saudi_911_fund@paypal.com would be most appreciated!
