New 997 Turbo woes PTII - PCM issues?

Following on from my previous post, some of the issues are sorted but still have some elec / PCM issues:-
https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=920746

So, the indy has had it for 2 weeks and got the fog lights working (replaced a module), ordered a new Sat Nav disk and diagnosed the reader as faulty so that now ordered.

I think there is a deeper seated issue with the PCM or an underlying module and wondered if anyone has had any specific issues along the same lines.
  • DRL's not working (programmed to be ON via the personal settings on the PCM)
  • 'Home' light not functioning (when you lock / unlock the car the lights come on)
  • TPM (Tyre Pressure Monitoring) not showing on the dash at all. One sensor removed which should cause an error but nothing shows
  • The centre / main display on the dash / instrument cluster should be programmable to show the TPM, Radio etc. but I only have the option of the telephone - all other options are missing
I know its down to the dealer to fix this but they are not a Porsche specialist and was hoping to get some specific intel so they don't start taking the whole car apart.

I bought it from GP Cars and had it for < 1 week and they have now had it for a further 2+ weeks. They will be engaging an electrical specialist to help look into this.

Any SPECIFIC experience of the above would be appreciated.

Is this the PCM that is faulty or is there a particular control unit or module that could be the cause?

Many thanks in advance.

As I understand it with the new consumer rights for purchasing goods you only have to give the dealer one shot to fix it. Thereafter you can select alternative routes to solving the problem.

Hi Rob,
Does the dealer have access to PIWIS or Durametric system to be able to check the cars current coding?

Some of the features that you mention above can be coded in and out of the system.

I would plump for getting your car into your nearest Porsche Centre for investigation and repair and then have the cost picked up by your dealer. [;)]

Clive

I think some things eg DRL need to be programmed deeper than the PCM allows (my first tt was bringing headlights on not the small lights) and therefore access to Porsche sysytems may well be neccesary to get it all working as you want. If thOe indie doesn't have that software you will need to use an OPC or specialist indie who has the software.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your input and suggestions on this.

I will ask about the PIWIS or Durametric systems. They said that they were going to engage an electrical specialist they normally use for things like this.

I dont think they will take it to OPC and foot the bill judging by how reactive (or not) they have been with me, they are trying to do it in-house.

They turn over around 100 high performance cars a month and have their own small workshop but with electrics it can often be a difficult thing to track down, hence asking the specific question.

Re the DRL / Home coding, agreed but you can (or should be able to) turn it on / off from the PCM.

My TPM isnt working or even showing up at the moment as well so i think there is a deeper seated issue. Also things like Radio isnt showing on the central dash display as well....

I am hoping its either the PCM or a single control unit thats not working.

Thanks for your input and if someone has had the same problem I would love to hear from you.

Rob

You need a piwis!! For sure

tpm gets deactivated when coding and it's easy not to recode radio stations etc when setting up a unit.

Piwis or or dumetric is now only option

they do have a durametric so recoding should be fine.

is this an educated guess about the coding or speaking from experience?

not trying to be obtuse but would like some facts to go back to them with if possible.

thanks again
