Very nice, Chris and congratulations. That colour is one of the best for the 997 CS and the wheels look great. Unfortunately, lid damage is fairly common when overloading the compartment. People forget to load it from the back and the fact that the lid slopes fairly sharply at the front. Also don't close the lid down on the badge as this can cause damage too. Regards, Clive.

Thanks for the comments, I was wondering about the best place to close the bonnet, to be honest I have been pushing on the badge but will stop that now :)

Hi, I recently bought my 997 S, been after one for many years and was lucky to find this one

Just had the bonnet repaired where someone had tried to close the bonnet on something that didnt fit, and had a full machine polish and the wheels redone in gunmetal

Wanted to share the pic as Im loving it!!! :)

Is that right re not using the badge to shut boot? That's what the dealer told me and that's what I do?

The official recommendation is that you press to close just below the badge. [;)] Regards, Clive.

Surprised me too, as I've always 'dropped' bonnets from a small enough height to close, but dealer told me to press the badge when I bought the 997. On the subject of denting the bonnet, can recommend Das Schild protector. Looks excellent, fits well, and avoids very expensive damage. Especially noting the slope which can catch you out.

Pressing the badge can loosen the fixings, I was told to press just below the badge.. Although in the past I was told to press the badge as it left no fingerprints on the bonnet..

Definitely don't push down on the badge, they are easily bent concave including mine which must have been done at a service.

Looking through the owners manual (US Version) to see what they say about the lid closing I came across this interesting variation Trunk Entrapment Your vehicle is equipped with an internal trunk release mechanism. A person trapped in the luggage compartment can release the lid from the inside using the unlocking handle. The handle is fluorescent and glows in the dark. Note When loading the luggage compartment, make sure that items of luggage or other objects cannot become caught on the handle. This could cause the luggage compartment to open unintentionally. Presumably this is only fitted to US, Italian and Irish models.....[:)]
