Hi Chris

Any mention of waiting list and/or deposits by salesman?

Thats new - PDK option is not supposed to be out until Jan/Feb new year. Manuals only from August time.

Hi all

Was naughty and put a letter of intent in on the 997.2 turbo last week.

So if anyone out there is looking to employ a grossly overpaid IT Director, give me a call so I can buy the car. [:D]

Seriously though, I was told launch sometime in October, with deliveries from November (incl PDK). Lots of names down already and they are going to restrict numbers far more than the Gen1 so I was already probably looking at March - April 2010 earliest. So if you might want one get your letter of Intent in now

I was also told not to bother with a LOI for GT3, In fact if I had not already put down a £10k deposit for it I was not going to get one. It looks like they already are oversubscribed and even allowing for people pulling out a few people will be disappointed and be handed their deposit back.

One quick thought - the OPC guys weren't sure about price but thought it would be no more than a small increase - if that is so it might be a relative bargain.

I played on the configure your own Porsche last night with a Gen 2 - I got well into the £90K+ on just a C2S (PDK, Ceramics, Power kit and LSD and your there). At that rate a £100k 505bhp+ turbo might just be a bargain.[:D]

Not leaving much time betweem announcement and launch then...

Not sure if PDK will be for me on a TT until I try it out although I was keen on the concept before launch of original 997 TT and registered a letter of intent then with salesman insistent that I was taking out an option on a product which would never materialise.

If indeed the engine is replaced with the all new Gen II DFI variant already in other models, but curiously not GT3, Porsche are going to have some work to do to convince some that 500+ horses coupled with PDK, which has taken an age to engineer, is as bullet proof as the current model...

One things for sure.. I'll certainly test drive a TT with PDK...
Hey, I might even get invites to a test drive or even a brochure this time!! then again maybe not [:(]

Chris, see you at Lemans in a couple of days [8D]

IMO the only way to test drive a TT properly is on a track if you want to assess relative differences. I hope if they do something at Silverstone the instructors are a little more relaxed than on the PDK launch which was very restrained driving - admittedly the track was wet and it did look as if someone had careered up the grass banks earlier - instructor wouldn't even let me over-take a snail. Millbrook strikes me as a preferable option however.
