The yellow looks great.

I would go manual as well if I had to choose.

That looks like quite a spec list.

I really must get a test drive in one!

Please do

they are a fantastic sports car and literally a mini 911 turbo, a great way into Porsche ownership, you would love it after a decent test drive

enjoy

hi all

thought id post up a running thread regarding my latest purchase, a yellow 718 base with a manual transmission,

my car history is mainly bmw company cars and a few Aston company cars, the bmws were always 750/760s, had a few 650 gran coupes and a few s classes, I'm 39 and loved sports cars in my 20s and early 30s ( 3 z4m coupes and a few z3m coupes ), but company cars made me step away from sports cars and run a single car for the last 5 years or so, however a chance visit to Porsche bolton last year led me to start looking for weekend fun.

so so last year I purchased my first Porsche, a silver 981, in fantastic condition and base spec, it had heated seats and leather and bose etc, I bought it because of the sound if I'm honest. However a year on the basic interior and light spec made me start yearning for A Decent spec 911.

so this takes us till Xmas this year when Porsche bolton lent me a yellow demonstrator for a week while mine was having some stone chips fixed ( which they did for free since I had only bought the car a few months prior ! I really cannot stress how Really good the customer service is there ! )

i really felt in in love with the car, the spec is amazing

racing yellow
20 inch Carreras wheels
manual transmission
adaptive sports seats plus 18 way
auto dimming mirrors
bose
led lights
connect plus
cruise
dab
folding mirrors
gt wheel
illuminated carbon door sills
instrument dials in yellow
interior painted
light design
navigation
park assist and camera
yellow belts
rear wiper
heated seats
two zone climate
wheel centres in colour
torque vector and 10m drop

So 6 months after getting my car back I felt I needed a change, so I popped into bolton to order a new 718 Cayman in yellow and found that they were selling their demo car, deal done and picked it up the week later, late june.

So im now a few months in, and over 1k miles. And I can say it is an absolute pleasure to drive, and a real occasion

the progression from 981 to 718 seems perfect, the car is faster, comfier and seems a little better handling wise. The sound is better ( I know… I'm probably the only person on the planet that says this blah blah ), my friend owns a 911 turbo and it sounds similar albeit a little less angry…… but angry enough.

i haven't got a sport exhaust on mine and won't fit one as it sounds great the way it is,

anyway ill I'll update with further musings/ramblings over the coming months

if you've got a 718 feel free to add to the discussion and post pics of yours

My ex-demo 718 is pretty similar in spec to your's, I too fell in love with it during a test drive back in Nov last year and subsequently put my order in for a factory build. However, after a few weeks of ridiculous non committal rumblings from my OPC over the time scale and that by then the demo car's time was up and being marketed, I took the plunge and picked it up on 29th Dec 16 with just 2k on the clock. Now 8 month later and with over 10k on the clock I agree that it is a fantastic car for the money, although some of the options should be standard and I have experienced some iffy build quality issues. One of which will soon re-occur again once the autumnal weather kicks in, this being the misting / condensation build up in the head & tail light units - I will be updating the forum on my negotiations with my OPC on this...!

Pictures below: 1, Looking all shinny in the showroom on hand-over (never been that clean again since), 2, 2nd Jan bank holiday trip to the seaside on an unusually bright winters day & 3, The joy of a daily driver, no pampering for this 718...

Not got carbon on dash or centre console but it has the illuminated / carbon door sills like yours, thought these would be a bit of a gimmick but I actually think they look quite smart. Think my car must of been part of a Launch Model batch as at the time several OPC's had exactly the same car for sale, I've just had a quick look on PH's and Porsche Centre Colchester still do https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/cayman/porsche-cayman-2-0-2dr/7311851, at only £200 less than I paid for my car even though it will now be a year old, so no matter what the nay slayer on here and other forums say hopefully the residual prices of this model will stay firm.

Hope you continue enjoying your car, the yellow and Carrera wheel combo looks fantastic!
