New Battery for GTS

New member
Hi,
I'm possibly in need of a new battery for my 94 GTS in the UK. I've spoken to a local dealer and have bene quoted £87 + VAT and they told me that it is specific to the GTS.

When I've spoken to 911design, Euorparts etc, they are saying it's the same for ALL 928's.

Is this the case?

Thanks

Jody

Hi Jody :)

Not quite.....various different 928 models have different size battery boxes (the hole the battery sits in under the spare wheel)

Later cars from some S2 onwards have a shorter box to cope with the different exhaust boxes underneath that box....

The proper answer to this is to take out your spare wheel and MEASURE your battery.....measure the length, width, and height.....then get the biggest AH (Amp hour) battery with those dimensions....if its an auto...make sure its as powerful as possible..because although it IS possible to bump start a 928 auto,,,you have to get it to 30mph first ...lol.....and personally I cannot run that fast :) :)

All the best Brett :)

Hi Brett,

How's things? We meet at Ragley Hall. How's the progress with your Nitros monster? Anyhow, any particular brand of battery you recommend? I'll measure up, but looking at the space, there is a fair amount of room for a larger battery than i currently have.

Off to see Richard Armstrong this weekend for X-pipes and an RMB (with a subtle silencer)

Hi Jody :)

My Nitrous system is coming along nicely...got a race seat ordered, already have some 4 point harnesses to fit when seat arrives, have a massive new rev counter to fit on top of dash (with a 2 separate shift lights) also to fit to top of dash...as I didnt figure it very sensible to be peering through wheel at my rev counter at 200 plus mph..lol

Regarding space for a larger battery...on mine...it LOOKS like you can fit a bigger battery but you CANNOT (take my word)..if you look at the bit where the space is (towards the front end of the car) you will see a curved upwards section to cope with exhaust pipes under car...(assuming its the same as mine)

X-Pipes and RMB are REALLY GOOD....ITS AN AMAZING SOUND...dont have ANY silencers though lol :)

All the best Brett :)

ps. Any MAJOR make of battery is fine...Bosch, Varta, etc etc....but please NOT a local motorshop unbranded special :)

I bought a battery for my 1986 S2 in september last year £47 including the dreaded VAT. the company is called Manbatt they have offices in different parts of the country, you give them the code/part number off the top of the battery and they will know what size it is. i upgraded on the ampage but the battery case is exactly the same size.
