New battery on my S2

With the cold weather we've been having the battery in my S2 expired, it was 4 years old. Went to Hellfrauds (they do have a long guarantee on the batteries) and the one they list for "Post 1989 944S" was the much bigger HB096. Previous battery was HB075. Much bigger battery and much faster starting! Unbelievable difference!

There are two threaded holes in the battery compartment base to bolt the clamp down. Previous battery was on the smaller setting, the new battery fills the compartment and the clamp is bolted down on the furthest hole.

So the moral of the story is if you have slow cranking, make sure you've got the right size battery installed, I think Hellfrauds used to specify a too small battery for the S2 or they specced the same battery for all the 944 range. Hence slow cranking.

good tip John
I have also got a 95Ah battery with humungous brass clamps and new earth straps. The battery shakes the living daylights out of my starter.[8|] hope it holds up
