New Battery

Replaced the battery this w/end only to find the existing one (from previos owner) was totally the wrong size (probably to save cost) although the 72 amp hours was fine. Anyway, having now fitted the correct one and connected up, the ultrasonics in the cab are clicking like crazy with every move I make! Does anyone have any ideas how to correct or re-set these? I'm assuming the disconnection of the power has upset the alarm in some way??

Looks like this was a quirk of electronics...having left the car alone for 24hrs it appears the Porsche alarm system has re-setted itself. So all is now well...if this has been of some reference to others then it was worth asking the question.

Steve,

The Bosch Silver has always been the battery of choice. I believe they have changed model names/numbers lately so I don't think it's called "Silver" anymore but the equivalent is fine. Costco are good pricewise if you have access to an account.

I have Varta batteries in both Porsches, all slightly over the rating required, both came with gas, drains and both very reliable-albeit the 964 if left for 3/4 weeks still needs a trickle charge.

I have the Halfords battery in my 964 seems fine and they have a good warranty.

These can be bought for around £60 if you have a Halfords Trade Card.

I brought a Halford battery conditioner, for about £38, when my battery went flat as a pancake. It was completely revived, although it took a good 36 hours, and now it will last up to 2 weeks.

I went a 'day too far' this weekend and 24 hours on the charger gave more than enough to start it and go for a blast [:)]

So it might be worth trying a conditioner
