New Battery

My existing battery is 6 years old and needs constant recharging so I think its time to consider a new one. Any good battery recommendations please?

If your car is still under warranty then you have no alternative other than to get the genuine Porsche battery, I'm afraid.

Hi I changed my Bosch S4 last year but upgraded to the S5 010, 12v 85Ah better cranking power in the winter months, £101.92 including vat and carriage 24 hour delivery from TAYNA batteries. I hope this is some help to you, at least a guide price.

Replaced mine in my 987.2 a year ago to a silver Bosch S4.

Been perfect, bought via amazon as I had some birthday gift cards for them, so the price was super cheap, iirc about £40

Whichever battery you consider, check the overall dimensions, it is tight in that battery box!

Just thinking about the Porsche warranty and a replacement battery, is there an after market battery that exactly matches the Porsche battery that will not adversely affect the warranty?

Are you really so strapped for cash that a £12 cheaper battery might not damage your warranty?

You need to think about are you driving the right sort of car?

Unfortunately this is correct. Even though the battery is not covered, it's the only way. If you have a claim you would have to first change the battery to an OEM battery. Same if you didn't have N tyres. My local OPC had a Macan in for a transfer box replacement under warranty and the owner had to pay for 4 new tyres before the transfer box could be replaced as they weren't N tyres.

What model ?

981 onwards should be coded to tell them they have a new battery to make sure the stop /start works properly and that the charging system is optimised for the battery.

many don’t do it and don’t see a problem. But perhaps the affects are longer term or subtle. most cars with stop / start have the same requirement so I figure they don’t do it for fun.

If only the difference was £12.

Thanks for all the helpful advice. My car had to go in for some work on the suspension top mounts at my local specialist and they advised an upgraded 95ah Bosch 4013. They have fitted this to other Boxsters and it involves some changes to the battery box but the extra power (95 instead of 85ah) will no doubt come in useful - and it has a 5 year warranty. Not cheap but I hope it will pay for itself in the long run.
