New boots!

Have finally made a decision and ordered some new road tyres for my new 944t, as my thoughts of persevering with the trackday tyres fitted when I bought it 2 weeks ago, finally went out of the window around the same time that my heart climbed back down out of my mouth for the umpteenth time over the last week - trackday tyres + cold, damp tarmac + 'boost' = new undercrackers...![&:]

After much deliberation and browsing, I have plumped for a slightly unusual choice (some might say..!) of the new Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres in 225/40 & 265/35 x 18 sizes.

Three main reasons for the choice..

  1. They came 2nd in the recent Evo magazine tyre test and were praised for their wet grip and steering feel.
  2. I managed to get them for £440 versus lots more for any comparable premium tyres
  3. ... errm, well the tread pattern is well funky! Sad I know...!
Should have them this week from Camskill Tyres, so will let you know how they feel, once I've 'polished' the moulding agent off them!

Cheers and Happy New Year to one & all!

I think you should be very pleased.
For the last two or three years I've been using their Sporttrac standards as road tyres on my 924S and now my 944.
I allowed myself to be guided by the annual tyre tests in Auto-Express where they have been tyre of the year for the last two years and runner up (excessively noisy?? I didn't notice!) this year. The grip wet or dry has been fantastic and very reassuring.

If the old ones have anything to go by you will be very happy as I used to run the old ones on my GTI.
The review in Evo was good and glad to say I now have Good year Eagle F1's. I find them a great tyre wet or dry.
