New Boxster - How to get your name down?

Hi
just called my local OPC who had not acknowledged my letter of intent for the new model Boxster.
they informed me that Porsche GB were no longer accepting letters of intent on a model which was not yet officially confirmed.
also there was a revised deposit pricing structure being put in place (not the usual £1000)
across the model range.
has anyone else had this experience or are other OPC's acknowledging letters of intent??
Andrew

The only thing Bristol acknowledged was £1000.

Although back when you had to wait over a year for your car they did seem to get their act together when threatened with having them return your deposit.

You should just be able to put a deposit on a Boxster and when you get a build slot tell them to give it to the next in line. Repeat until 987 is released.

JCB..

I was told that Boxsters and standard 996 deposits were £1000.
but GT3, GT3rs, TURBO's and CAYENNE deposite are £6.000[]

the GT they want a deposit of 10% but said you would recieve interest on that money while you waited for the car to arrive[&:]

gosh these places must have nice fat Bank balances.

After asking questions about the new coupe, I was asked by the OPC te submit a letter of intent. They said that Porsche would not allow a deposit until the car was officially anounced.
I sent a letter of intent, but they have not confirmed receipt.

Last I herd from Exeter OPC was that they are "re-thinking" the deposit structure and would probably require the full 10% up front irrespective of what model you are going for be it 2.7 Boxster or GT3. This, apparrently was to show your level of commitment to your order as they have had a number of people pull out at late notice. I think what they were trying to say was that £1000 deposite was too accessilbe for the masses where as 10% up front puts a rather large lump in your throat!!!
This was several months ago before the new model images were released, so I have not registered intent yet as my boxster is only 7 months and am having a fantastic time so far.
Will defiately be upgrading though in the future!!!

Richard Lane at OPC West London took £1000 when I placed my order (December 2003) and said that once the spec had been announced, I would be asked for a further £3000.

Doesn't seem to be any conformity across the OPC network !!

I discussed this with Michelle from OPC Mid Sussex over breakfast on Sunday (it's nice to have a close relationship with your local dealer! [sm=kiss.gif])*

Basically there is no set method. Letters of Intent are what they themselves are accepting, and when the model is announced then a deposit will be looked for. Other dealers do it different.

I'm more stunned that the other dealers could not be bothered to inform those that had sent letters of intent, that these were not being accepted! But it may be that they would hold on to them and then contact the sender when a model is announced - just as they would if they acknowledge receipt.

*OK, it was in the Hotel dining room after the Sussex Region Dinner! [;)]

I applaud your faith in human nature however I got the very distinct impression that my letter would go un-acknowledged.
I have to say I'm very disappointed. Within my letter of intent I also enquired as to the availability of the anniversary Boxster; again no response - when I phoned, one of the guys informed me "they are all gone". Factually a reasonable answer but a little bit of TLC wouldn't go amiss.
I left with the feeling that they weren't bothered whether or not to sell me a new model Boxster, which I found rather astounding!!

"they are all gone".

His allocation up to a certain point may have gone. But I don't think they have all gone!

I heard that they have run out of the brown hoods for a certain months production, that's all.

And I think you are right - I doubt they would get back to you either[8|]
My past experience with a certain Surrey dealership with which I had an order was appaling.
I switched dealers in the end - at the detriment to the delivery schedule of my car.

I spoke to my local OPC, by telephone, regarding a letter of intent for the Boxster Coupe. I was asked to e-mail my request, with all of my contact details, and I received an e-mail reply, by way of confirmation of my interest, almost by return.
A deposit, (I know not how much), will be payable once details/specifications of the car are officially announced.
