Well after 8 previous 911's 1 off 987 , 2 Ferraris 430 and 360 i said i had spent enough on cars, IMO cars don't get that much better after £50k in performance or looks, in fact I think the 981 is better looking than any other Porsche and certainly on par with the Italian marks, therefore finally after a 6 month wait the 981 has been delivered to the dealers in Swindon, so rather than wait for delivery on a truck Tuesday I am getting a train 7am Saturday and hopefully will enjoy a lovely 90 mile trip home!

Will post pictures ASAP let the sun shine !

Congratulations on the most highly specced 981 out there today and possibly all time

After ticking all those boxes you still came in well under a base 991 cabrio and like you I think, if you don't need the rear chairs, the 981 is unbeatable value for money in Porsche world but IMO also in the car world false stop

Wish you a very pleasant drive home in your stunning new roadster and after my session at PEC on Monday I can confirm the car is absolutely awesome on the track inspite of very wet conditions that morning [;)]

Thank you for your kind comments, I knows it's not a Ferrari, but i do really think its a lovely looking car.

So got up at 5am taxi to gatwick, train to Swindon and a lovely sunny beautiful drive of over 100 miles back, just got in the drive and the garage before the sleet and rain came, ........but I keep telling myself its ok to get it wet!!!, I am just enjoying it clean for an hour or two!

Initial impressions, amazing , sounds fantastic , has the sports exhaust, really impressed with the car, loads of nice gestures from passersby on the M4 .

Will post some nice pics and a mini road test when the sun comes back out

Congratulations, hope you get to enjoy your car in the sunshine.

I was really taken impressed with the 981 at PEC Silverstone on Thursday and would be interested to see how they are on the road. It seemed to have a split personality - remarkably quiet, comfortable and docile pottering around but completely focussed on the track and handled like it was on rails.

I like bold colour choices and the red roof looks well!

Well initial thoughts are quite simple amazing, how did Porsche make a sports car so road compliant (I think its better than my 7 series BMW) , sounds so good, the sports exhaust is fantastic, in someways I prefer its sound to my old GT3RS, the seats are lovely (14 ways ), dislikes well so far only the stupid electric handbrake position, I got 34 MPG thats is stunning for a average 75 mph + journey. Very impressed indeed. Full update to follow

Martin congratualtions the car looks fantastic and I did say you won't be disapopointed. I think at price levels way above this it would still be a very hard act to equal yet alone beat! [:D]

I have gone for yellow too. Am I mad??

Derek OPC Glasgow have a very nice spec manual in racing yellow which almost had me tempted [:D]

My two hot favourites have to be yellow or aqua

When did you decide to suffer new Porsche depreciation again []

There's a Racing Yellow 981 S PDK currently in OPC Silverstone's window. You can tell its not Speed Yellow but for me its still not quite dark enough. Probably still the colour I'd order, though.

At the PEC last week the yellow car looked really well.

All yellow cars look really well Rob - even against Jamies garage queen! [:D][:D]

Not that I am at least biased in any way ..........

"At the PEC last week the yellow car looked really well"

though some of the drivers seemed to find it difficult to park straight[:D]
maybe as it was so bright!!!
