Hi Guys,

I am new to this site, and the prospect of Posrche Ownership, so I would appreciate your advice!

I have to confirm by final spec on the 20th November and so far have

Seal Grey
Black Leather (the std that come with the car)
Sports steering Wheel
Park Assist
Auto Dim Mirrors
Bi Xenons
Climate
Cruise
H/seats
Bose with Wind Deflector
CD Changer
Sat Nav
Chrome Exhaust tips

The options that I am deliberating are:

Adaptive Sport Seats - is there a big difference, support, comfort on long journeys ect?
19" wheels, not sure re ride and handling?
PASM - is it worth it?
Sports Chrono Plus - if i get PASM, what do you think?

I would appreciate any advice

Thanks

Ben

A pity you have to spec by then.

Another few days and you will be able to see the car at your dealership...

If you are getting PASM, then £500 for the Sporst Chrono seems to make sense (if I'm reading the brochure correctly).

No idea on the adaptive seats I'm afraid - maybe a query in the 997 bit of the forum might get a response from someone who has them.

What is the rationale behind ordering the 19" wheels? Looks? Handling? (If the latter then the 18" is probably better).

Order what YOU want (not what someone tells you to). It's your car.

Of course the rest of us are sitting around waiting for the early ones like you to report back to us - so we know what to order/what not to order[;)]

Ben
the adaptive seats in the 997 were IMO excellent, really comfy, great support, ergonomically spot on; when I next spec up I shall be going for them [:)]

I didn't know that you get the leather as standard on the car, I'll have to find out more from my dealer, I seem to be in the dark on a lot of things.
Can anyone give me an idea about delivery times, I've been quoted 12 to 15 months and I am quite happy with that but is this the norm?

I hope they give me a brochure and options list at the launch I'm eager to spec my car [:D]
I'm a fan of the 19" wheels myself they LOOK fantastic in the flesh.

Hi renquist,

I'm in a similar position myself (but I'm only going for the 2.7L). The brochures are out as are photocopied options price lists. I've heard there's a new options booklet out now. If you call a dealership I'm sure they'll post you one.

All the best
S

Oh,

12-15 months is longer than I've heard. I put a deposit down to hold a slot for a January build about 2 weeks ago. Leather interior is not basic spec either

Hi,

You are right full leather interior is not standard, but on the S partial leather is. i.e. the seats!

Cool,

If you get a chance to see the Sat Nav or hear the Bose system when putting in the final specs would you post your impressions on here please? Thanks

When I ordered Sat Nav (PCM - Porsche Communication Management) for my 987 I was given a manual on the 997 version, which apparently is the same. The reference inside the manual is WKD 479 720 04 07/03.

Be prepared for a long read - it's 130 pages long.

Thanks, I'll have a word with my dealer at the launch.

Ben

I would do without the park assist, cruise, Bose & the Sat Nav.

The 19" wheels look great, but I'm sure it will ride better on 18"s.

Howver, as Mark say's it's your car. Hope you enjoy it.

[&o]Tip for you from experience of owning 4 Boxsters to date and now waiting for my 5th ... In order to minimise depreciation keep your car to as basic a spec as you find acceptable usual must have worth while options being Metallic Paint, Wind Deflector, Speaker Upgrade, full leather. After that you specify at your own financial peril [;)]
My MY05 "S" is running out at £42K currently which is similar money to my previous 2 "S"'s

Thanks for the advice, although I was told that full leather wasn't that worthwhile by a dealer, and that PCM is an option most people will start to expect in a 40k + car.

I am thinking of cancelling the adaptive sports seats now though!

Just MHO, but its a sports car, we all seem to get hung up on loads of extras.

If I wanted all the frills then I would buy a prestige saloon car.

One of the reasons for selling my 996 C4 and moving to the BOXSTER 'S' was that the BOXSTER 'S' felt more like a sports car. The 996 is a great car, but with cruise, full electric seats, leather, psm (which I used to switch off) etc. etc......... it had lost its sports car appeal to me.

I am looking at the new BOXSTER 'S' but it will be the basic level plus wind delfector, heated seats and maybe multi cd but thats it.

Hi, Am new to this forum, and am very impressed so far.
I've got a Boxster 2.7 '05 on order for May delivery, and am going to spec either baslat black, or seal grey metallic, part leather interior (seats etc only), wind defelector and 18" S wheels.
CAr will cost about £35400, which is not too OTT. Previously car is a Lotus Elise, so don't want too many toys to distract from the sports car experience - although a watertight roof will be a HUGE bonus !!.

What more do you need!

Go for it..
