Hi,
Just purchased a 1998 Boxter with 18k miles on the clock. This is my first Porsche having always been a fan of the 911's. However now a bit worried about RMS failure highlighted on the forum. I was led to believe that Boxter did not have any inherent faults as some previous models' 944 timing chains, or 968 pinion bearings.
What is RMS failure and should I sell the Boxter now before the impending large bill ! I previously ran a Golf VR6 that covered over 120k miles without any major problems. Apart from that concern, thoroughly enjoying the car and it has really over delivered on the expectation I had.
The last oil change was over 18mths ago at a mileage of 14.5k miles. Should I change the oil as the car is now used as a daily commute in stop start traffic ? Can anyone advise me where I can purchase Silkolene 5/40w oil within M25. I also intend bleeding the brakes but have no idea about the sequence or the position of the bleed valves on the calipers. Are the valves located above the callipers on front facing the ones to use. Any advice would be most welcome.
