New car insurance (UK)

Afternoon chaps.

So I’m picking a new C2S up this week. I’ve used various insurance companies in the past and trying to sort insurance on the new 911 is proving frustrating…

using car comparison sites i can get something like LV or Admiral for around £800 a year but Lockton are 3 times more expensive and Porsche insurance even more…

Have you guys any feedback on who you use and recommendations around new 911 insurance as I’m nervous on using a company like Admiral based on reviews but theres a significant jump up on policy cost for ‘specialist’ insurers (and a significant excess increase also).

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,
I use Admiral Multicar. The only time I had a call on them was when my C63 was written off and they were very good to deal with (possibly because it was the other driver’s fault), and gave me a better valuation than I expected. They don’t require a tracker and I am not interested in track days. Historically they have usually matched quotes when I have contacted them.
Hope this helps,
Tim

Hey Andy
i am currently with Admiral. Previously with Direct Line and More Than. I have no experience of making claims with either of them so can’t comment on that. However, make sure you get GAP insurance as that should cover any shortfall just in case.

I use LV multi car and they are competitive. My son uses Admiral and they were very helpful when he had a no fault incident although he did have legal cover.
ALA are very competitive for the gap insurance.

Assuming the PCGB are still issuing car valuations you may want to consider insuring with a company who give ‘agreed value’ cover, and possibly track day cover too. I use ManningUK, you may also consider Classicline.

I'm also with Admiral and have been for the last 5 years of ownership

Part of a multicar policy and £143/yr for my 987.1 Boxster. [8D]

My Panamera was with Darwin but they would not insure a brand new 992 C4S. Switched to LV and it was less than £400 (age and no-claims history help me) - that is the cheapest I have ever paid for a 911.

Significant excess in play but I would normally not claim for minor damage anyway.

I've just gone through exactly the same process Andy and went with Admiral as I couldn't justify the huge jump in cost to go with a specialist insurer. As others have said make sure you add some good GAP insurance as a safety net, I went with ALA which worked out at £150 per year. It would appear that once your car is a couple of years old then other possibilities will open up in terms of who will cover the car and what they'll charge. Cover should be a lot more competitive. Hope you enjoy the new car.

Kind regards,

Major

I use Admiral multi car too along with a GAP from ALA. Admiral processed a no fault claim on my previous FType and were easy to deal with. Wife drove into my car! Funny moment was getting a letter From them telling me not to talk to the other party

Thanks for the feedback, I ended up going with LV via a comparison website and got a deal at the Porsche dealer for GAP insurance. So sorted.

FYI. Certis Insurance were good to deal with but too expensive on this one.
