I going to buy a Cayenne (2005 ish) and would like to know is it worth getting the 3.2 OR the more powerful 4.5? I'm not worried about fuel consumption, it's just I don't want to buy the smaller one and find out I want to upgrade straight away. Has anyone had both and can say which one they prefer.

I'm new to Porsche Steve.

Have to say I think my Cayenne S is fantastic, even after just a few weeks. Can't wait to get it across to germany in the summer on my anual trip!

Good luck and get an "S"

Fuel consumption is similar in both so it has to be the 4.5S, expect 17 to 22mpg higher on the Motorways. Seemingly Turbo's are similar on mpg so worth a look and probably better on long trips!

I recently purchased my Cayenne and after many months of looking, ended up buying a 3.2 rather than the 4.5 as the mileage and spec of mine was too good to turn down. I do miss the extra power and would definitely go for an S next time, if I find one with the right mileage and spec.

Overall, my three criteria were Spec, Mileage and Engine. I decided in the end that the one thing that I was prepared to sacrifice was the engine and its the family transport at the end of the day, we have the Boxster to have fun in.

In my view spec is important. I would definitely go for the 4.5. I have a tiptronic S and it came with a good spec, thats the important bit. I am not an expert on what came as standard but I think air suspension is important. Good luck!
