I am looking to purchase a new carpet set do my 1986 Turbo. Naturally ill need all the correct fixings inc
the poppers in the boot area plus spare wheel mould.

Can anyone tell me of a company that currently does these?

I Did it like this ....
Used 968 front carpet fits perfectly
The rear carpet is in stock in black for 944
Rear side/boot carpets used 968
Kick panels refurbished my old ones
Boot carpet not available hunted for 3 years and found a perfect carpet with no cracking in the foam [:)]

About £1100 All in if I remember correctly

No experience of them but;

Southbound don't give a price for the 924/944, and the price list says "fitted only". Don't know why they won't mail-order them?

Worth a call though, as you know what you're getting will be right. There are several versions of the boot carpet for the different spare wheel options.

I spoke to a Southbound regarding new carpet sets for a 944 and they said the original carpets were 'Heat Formed' to give the correct shape and it is a difficult and expensive thing to replicate. They do offer some carpet sets, but they are not an exact replication to the originals.

Have a look, maybe if some use? Item didn't sell but you could always make contact....

Thanks, Martin. I was racking my brain to think of a reason as they list every other Porsche model by price.

The sticky bit is obviously this spare wheel cover. Im toying with removing it totally and carrying foam. this means the 928 boot carpet will fit perfectly. In fact any company would be able to make one to fit perfectly then. Il just hard board cover the hole.'

Not carrying a spare may invalidate you recovery service. If youre stuck using a full height wheel then Id consider a 996/986 type which is smart, very, very slender and comes with a cover.

I didn't have a spare and then saw that the terms and conditions of my recovery service where that I carried one so I got a proper 951 part number 15" lightweight spare with a normal tyre (not the collapsible type).

Still got foam and wouldn't use the spare unless I absolutely had to.

yep I got that (30yrs old and still looking good). ok points taken.

Coverdale just came back and they say they can make the right set, i'm asking questions re boot/spare wheel housing as that's the only issue .
