New Carpet Set

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier for a new carpet set for my '84 Targa? Has anybody fitted new carpets and are there any do's and don't's?

I've used them and they are first class. Not the cheapest, but OEM quality and shape including cut outs.

Delivery of whole or part sets no problem normally in about 10 days.

I bought a used set from a car a couple of years, and lots of miles newer than mine - almost mint, on ebay. 1/3rd or less of the price of new ones !

Time consuming job though - need spray carpet adhesive and patience - centre heater controls and seat belt mountings, rear seat pads and backs, etc. all need removing. But not a difficult job.

Mine looks great now inside and I really got great satisfaction doing the job myself, as I am doing with as much as I'm capable of. I enjoy seeing my own efforts improve the car - not as much as driving it though [:D]

Great response - thank you. The original carpet is cream to match the cream vinyl and cloth check cream/brown seats - they look a bit like those 3D things you used to have to stare to see the picture but they're part of the car's charm - and cream vinyl door inlays. Any views on whether I should go for a darker carpet (more practical - brown to match the brown in the seats) or go for cream again to keep it as it was orginally ordered? Whilst I'm at it, I take it there's meant to be some sort of centre console forward of the gear lever - there's a couple of holes there at present.

I think you can get carpet sets from Pelican. If I am right these are from a co called Apbiz - try a Google search. IMHO, Southbound are very expensive. To get the right colour, they may be your best bet though.

Thanks all - I shall post some pictures when it's done!

With regard to doos and donts...check out if your door pockets are still ok,
Your carpet set should comprise of the necessary coverings for the door pockets
normally in a targa after so many years, these tend to decompose. Southbound can supply you new ones in glassfibre so this is no longer a problem.
