"New" Carrera 2S

Hello again

Picked up the 2S this afternoon from the midlands and brought it back to Cardiff. Here for the weekend before returning to London. Will probably spend tomorrow going through the car in a bit more detail.

I have a few questions I thought you guys may be able to help me with .....

1. I think the car doesn't have original Porsche wheels. They are 18inch but do not have the rim width and offset stamped near the tyre valve which I am told all Porsche wheels have. Is this correct? Are the correct wheels 18 inch hollow spoke tubo style alloys?

2. I am trying to find all the options but can't seem to find the link to the option list decoder ... can anyone point me to the link please.

I am sure I will have lots of question for you over the next few weeks so hope you don't mind.

Thanks

Congratulations on the new puchase ...

The C4S had turbo look-a-likes (non hollow spoke) as standard, whereas the C2S had the 'proper' technology wheels (turbo hollow spokes) fitted as a cost option.
To check yours where specified as are original porsche items and fitted as an option, look at your options listing (under the bonnet) for option 408. If it is there, you will have had the 18" Technology Design (Hollow-spoke Turbo) wheels fitted from new, although as a back-up (to prove they are still there!) check the rear side of the rear wheel, it should be stamped 993-362-140-00. If it is, bingo.....

Happy motoring,

Hi Peter

Thanks for the info. Just checked and 408 was an option on the car so it was certainly delivered with them. The wheels on the car look right but I am used to seeing the width/offset stamped on wheels so wondered if they were genuine or not. I'll take the wheels off and check for the part number.

Many thanks

Hi Maurice

Had the wheels off over the weekend and the part numbers are correct so they are the hollow spoke 18" Turbo wheels. No metal valve stems though, just the usual rubber item.

I am guessing that someone changed the tyres at some stage and put these on. Is there any reason/benefit in having metal stems?

Car has cleaned up well although picked up a nail in one of the rear tyres [:(].

Regards

The metal ones can wreck ur rims if not fitted/refitted carefully .............especialy on Speedlines[ which i realise these arent] where the laquer eventualy comes off around them ................i far prefer the stubby rubber valves .............even as short as the lawnmower ones ,shorter the better so they dont 'turn o'over .
