New Cayenne/Cayenne S/Cayenne Hybrid

I was considering changing my Cayenne Diesel (2013) which i have had from new and now has 93k miles on it. It has been brilliant and fuel consumption super 30/40 mpg.
I drove the new Cayenne S last week, 440 bhp very impressive.
The problem i have at the moment with the new Cayenne range is they are all petrol and fuel consumption would be an issue to me. Both Cayenne and Cayenne S would look like
18/25mpg with my style of driving. The Cayenne Hybrid just does not convince me on its consumption figures and it is something like 210 kilos heavier.
So i specked a Cayenne S on the configurator and with the extras i would like is around 84k gbp,s. When i look at the specifications for the Cayenne versus Cayenne S , the only difference is you get bigger brakes and 100 bhp extra at a cost difference of 13k gbps . It seems a lot of money for all you are getting ??????.
It really is a no brainer as its going to cost me say 60k gbps to change, getting something which uses a lot more fuel as i would like to buy the S model as it has the new 2.8 engine .
Any one any thoughts or maybe wait for the Cayenne diesel launch ?????

This type of vehicle really suits the character of Turbo Diesel delivery, whether V6 or V8. All the performance you should ever need is in the low to mid-range. And the real world fuel economy is remarkable for such a big, powerful luxury, sporting SUV. They even sound good, especially the Macan with sports exhaust.

Personally, I'd wait for the new Diesel, although best to get your name down, as my OPC says there is likely to be pent-up demand.




 
Similar discussions going on here, with test drives booked for later next week. Four Cayennes in, and not sure what the next move is with the lack of diesels. Only managed 48k on our 2015 3.0l diesel and it's still driving like new and no issues other than waiting for a new windscreen from Autoglass [:mad:].

Another possible consideration would be that as soon as you drove your new Cayenne out of the showroom it would lose £20 to £25k about the p/ex value of your diesel.Perhaps running your hassle free fuel efficient for a few more years or into the ground is not such a bad idea.:ROFLMAO:
 
I'm the second owner of a 2013 Cayenne Diesel, first owner did 50k miles in two years and I've done the same. The 2013 Diesel is a superb car and has no added headaches like Adblue etc. These cars can really take highe miles and are ultra comfortable. I'll keep mine for many years.

We've got a 2017 Cayenne S Diesel it's a great car....it's done 22k miles in 16 months. Totally agree about Diesel being a much better fit for the car and the issues with the fuel consumption of the petrol engined cars. Also not convinced about the Hybrid....it works if you're one of the following a) Run it through a company so get significant tax breaks b) Do short journey where you can run just on battery and have access to charging points e.g. office commute c) There's a benefit in terms of being congestion charge exempt or similar. Otherwise they just don't make sense and don't drive quite as well because of the weight and brake feel etc.

I put a deposit down on a highly specced hybrid before we bought our diesel and glad I changed my mind.

I reckon we'll see Diesel again, maybe this new Bosch technology or similar will be the fix

Although one thing is for sure it'll be tested very, very rigorously before it gets put on a production car. No more dieselgate risks.

I can see us running our S Diesel for a good few years.

The diesel s is a super suv, sadly it wasn't available when i bought my Cayenne in 2013.
I looked at a Cayenne s diesel about three months back an was very tempted to but it. It was a 2015
and was owned by a dealer from new. It had a fantastic spec which included ceramic brakes, list price was 94k gbps when new but declined when i read about the Bosch press release.
Anyone know if the Cayenne S can be upgraded to Euro 6d standard ???
 
Just taken delivery of my new Cayenne E-Hybrid - it's fantastic - once you work out the various features/settings! I have never driven such a complex bit of kit before but I'm smitten.

I've had my Cayenne S-E Hybrid from new in 2015 and it has been fantastic, how much benefit you get from it is largely down to the type of journeys you do and what you use the car for. I have done just over 75,000 miles in three and a half years so mine definitely works for a living.
My office is within electric range and that makes it incredibly economical on the commute, I also tow with the car from time to time (which slaughters the economy), use it as a family wagon and do lots of journeys on business too so a real mixed bag. Over the last 4600 miles it has averaged 37 MPG but I have taken the trouble to learn how to get the best from it. I would recommend the on board fast charger to anybody thinking of speccing one from new as it enables much quicker charging both out and about and at home or workplace.
