Hi all,

Currently spitting blood having gone ten rounds with Virgin Media. Having been told that we could take our email addresses with us when we moved, we now find they were deleted and aren't recoverable. []

My new email is paulmcnulty1 (at) virginmedia.com

If you've sent me any mail to my old address, or to register944@porscheclubgb.com, since the end of May it will have been lost. Please forward it if it was important.

Sorry []

...best to keep a gmail, hotmail or yahoo email as the main email address as the money is on them out-living most ISPs (Internet Service Provider) plus you are not tied with the same ISP just because you have to go through the hassle of updating everyone with your new email address.[8|]

I believe the expression is "hindsight is a beautiful thing". [&o]

I'm a bit old-school. When you ask "can we take our old addressses with us?" , and the answer is "yes, of course Sir", you kind of accept that Branson's finest would never lie to your face. [:'(]

Paul,

Been there, done that. Got the 'annoyed' T-Shirt.

Another option is to buy a domain which means something to you. For instance, you could buy www.mcnulters.co.uk (it's available), for £8.99 for two years. This would mean that any eMail address at mcnulters.co.uk (so, paul@mcnulters.co.uk, iloveporsches@mcnulters.co.uk, s2s-are-better@mcnulters.co.uk etc ... ) would all come to you, and you could change ISP's as often as you like as the eMail addresses are independant of the ISP or of the likes of googlemail or yahoo or anything else.

Virgin Media are the worst ISP out there. Apart from all the other ones ... (with apologies to the late Mr Churchill).

Oli.

Paul,

You can always use a virtual address. I have two, one has my name followed by @i.am the other has my name followed by @hop.to (some people will appreciate the second one). These are redirectable to any email address which you can change at will.
Have a look at v3.com for free virtual addresses etc.
