Need to change discs and pads on 2010 Cayman S - Front and Rear (OPC recomendation and its under extended warranty).

Thinking of doing the change myself. Any suggestions re:

1 - Parts - best price for OPC suppied or views on OE from aftermarket suppliers ? [I am assuming that as long as OE is used then that will not invalidate the extended warranty]

2 - Links to the best "guides" on the net for tips on changing them

Thanks

Mike

Mike, With your Porsche Extended Warranty you may have to stick with original Porsche parts, but it's worth speaking to your PC first. Some people recommend Pagid pads and discs but it really depends upon your requirements - commuting, track-days, etc. You can probably get parts cheaper from someone like Design 911 but it's always worth comparing prices with those from your local PC, bearing in mind that you'll get a 10% Club discount. Planet-9 has a lot of useful articles on various subjects. Here's one that should help with brake pad replacement if you choose to DIY: http://www.planet-9.com/reviews/service-items/p121-brake-fluid-and-pad-change-tips.html And here's another useful one on brake disc replacement: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/55-BRAKES-Replacing_Brake_Discs/55-BRAKES-Replacing_Brake_Discs.htm Jeff

Jeff is right in all he says, there is one thing to be a little wary of in that some OEM parts as supplied from outside the franchised area may not be as supplied from a PC, Porsche like other manufacturers use alternative suppliers and some sell to Porsche a part with a known feature but sell the same item without the feature through other outlets, such was the case with Sebro discs at one time. It can depend on how picky the technicians at your dealership are though many would overlook things to allow a warranty job to be done, some may not so the best way to support your warranty and save money is to get the parts from the PC with club discount of course and to then do the job yourself.
