Hi Everyone,
nee to the club and ownership of the brand, yes, my very 1st Porsche !!
PCGB Full member - Chiltern, R21

I have always wanted a Boxster and have been searching arduously for almost a year before I found this little beauty, a late 2005 987.1 2.7 which I travelled up by train to collect (boy was the drive home fun), a little over 200 miles Away!
Ideally would have loved a few more extras, however this Boxster was as original as they come and really well looked after.
Its a 2005 local car with only 75k miles, with mostly OPC S/H with the last 2 services by a Specialist and been confirmed that it has the bigger IMS bearing fitted. it’s had a new clutch and RMS seal done less than a 1000 miles ago, however It's spec is reasonably basic - No PASM, Chrono, heated seats, PDC, Nav or Xenons. It does have a manual box, 18'' S alloys, Blue Leather Seats and matching hood.
It's been my ambition to own a Porsche and I hope my journey with this will lead me into my dream of owning a 911 one day. Have been enjoying every minute of this with my car fanatic 12 year old daughter !! :)
ps- have a few upgrades to be done in coming weeks / months starting with LED light upgrade, rear parking sensors, interior bulbs.

Welcome to Porsche ownership and the Club, Jatin [:)]

Glad to see you’ve obviously researched your new car well before buying and wish you many miles of smiles... Always great to see such enthusiasm for your Porsche - Enjoy!

Welcome to the club and Porsche ownership Jatin.

I have moved your post to the Boxster Register area as this was more appropriate.

Looks a lovely car Jatin. You don't need all the bells and whistles, just more to go wrong. Enjoy!

Welcome to the club from another newbie! ??
Don't worry about any lack of extras, you will not miss them, they do not really enhance the driving experience.
Perhaps only the upgraded headlight bulbs help, if you drive in the dark a lot.

Wishing you many happy miles!

Well done Jatin! That looks like you’ve bagged yourself a very nice little car. Much less chance of bore scoring on the 2.7L is a bonus.

As said, I wouldn’t worry about the low spec, although a headlight upgrade probably would be useful if you’re doing a lot of night driving in unlit areas, and the PCM satnav on a 16-year old car will be next to useless and wasn’t great even when new. At 75k miles the dampers probably could do with a refresh and there are plenty of aftermarket options available.

Maybe like many of us you’ll get hooked on the mid-engine cars and won’t bother with the increasingly bulky water-cooled 911. [;)]

Enjoy your new Porsche.

Jeff

Congrats on your Boxster.
Always found the 2.7 to be a sweet engine revs well plenty fast enough for roads of today.
Enjoy [;)]

...unless you go for any earlier 911 (air-cooled) which are as lithe and fantastic as your Boxster[:D]

Welcome.
Ive been in this Club for 32 years, you can't go wrong.
my 987.2 has no extras bar uprated headlamps oddly, but the wife wishes it had heated seats, and I wish it had alcantara seats..
You won't miss all the other stuff!
Plan some long long trips with your family and encourage your daughter. Mine is a petrol head.
Enjoy it like mad!

Thank you all for your well wishes and comments, appreciate the advice, and I do intend to keep the car as original as possible.
have the vehicle booked in next week at Porschetech (thank u forum for the recommendations), for rear parking sensors and LED bulb change.
have been enjoying driving the motor as well as seeing the huge grin on my daughters face when I picked her up from school for the 1st time in it:)
thanks

They always say that half the fun is searching for the right car! Hope you enjoy your new car, looks like the same colour way my own, Polar Silver with dark blue hood and interior leather.
I have had my Boxster just over a year now, a 2004 plate 986.2, 2.7L, with only 65k miles when purchased. And I too enjoyed a 120 mile drive home, but just before Lockdown! It has a Bose sound system and I added a Garmin sat nav that does hands-free phone and notifications.
it sailed through the first MOT, and its still the most exciting car I’ve ever owned, and my two daughters love the car too. Happy top-down driving soon...
