Out and about last 1/4 of this year the 997's first face lift! Must have taken at least 15 minutes to do [&o]

Still confused about timing.

I thought there was an announcement that it was due Summer '08 (09MY).

It's unlikely to be introduced mid-way through a model year, and the new TT, Targa and GT3 have only just been launched.

apparently people are expecting a c.15hp rise in power throughout the range, better fuel economy with direct fuel injection and perhaps the dual clutch (semi-auto) system similar to those seen in the likes of Audi and Bugatti atm.

Please could you briefly explain how you uploaded several pictures into your message. If you use the upload facilty it only allows you to upload one attachement as a thumbnail

Thanks

Is it just me or does the second picture in the series, the one with the car on the motorway from the rear, look all wrong, its like they have stretched the picture upwards...its just too tall and the stance too narrow, and too much light under the car. Nice to see the last pic shows the real view from the rear, flatter & wider...

I do like the LED lights though, a chap I sold my old wheels too came to collect them a couple of weeks ago,it was dark , and he turned up in a new audi A6 estate and the rear lights on that were stunning, lovely LED designs, it does seem to be the way forward on cars at the moment

Thanks Guys for help with photos. See CAMP 4 thread for some PICS. I havnt got it completely cracked yet but getting there. I guess I need to reduce the size of the images a little

I agree, styling wise I dont think it adds anything to the already beautifully crafted 997. Might look better in the flesh as these things often do though ?

What will be of more interest is the switch to direct injection etc. I wouldnt be surprised if Porsche ramp the power up a little more now that the Audi R8 is boasting of X51 rivalling levels of performance in standard trim.

Time will tell

daro,

There is something not quite right about the rear apron on all the spy shots.

Looks too skinny to me, exposing engine parts underneath which looks untidy.

Front end is none too pretty either.

What do you think ?

I think it's the new exhaust system thats not hanging quite right but believe the rear PU to be the BIG new design feature [;)]

I think the finished undisguised article will probably look correct but whether it's worth the time effort and tooling costs is another discussion [:D]

Sat on my OPC yesterday about the face lift - For what its worth their push abck was its not going to happen for some time. The reasoning Sales are holding up, 2 new models including a GT2 need to be issued but ahve no dates yet and the GT3/Turbo are only just out the door.

Hmm

Doesn't really matter what it looks like at the end of the day, the mark 2 will be the same price (+ the usual annual price rise) have more power and some newer bits under the skin, hence it'll be the one of choice.

okellyt, OPCs typically know as much as Porsche enthusiasts and they won't say anything that will hit their sales.

There is only one way to tell when your highly trained OPC sales person is lying ...... there lips move [;)]
