NEW FOREST BARBECUE

I have reserved the barbecue site at the usual place in the new forest for the 6th June. It is Pauline birthday the day before and traditionally the weather on her birthday is absolutely awful. Bad weather and high seas on the 5th June 1944 is why D-Day was the sixth, so let's hope that the 5th is a magnet for bad weather and that the 6th sees us basking in shirtsleeves. I am making it a bit more special this time and bringing a double gas burner to cook spuds, and the region can run to a couple of lettuces and bread etc. so literally bring you favourite cut of meat and I will cook it.

Shall we say turn up at three to let you have a leisurely drive down. This year Ian I promise the coals will be lit by 3 pm. Don't let inclement weather deter you we have a fantastic event shelter that will keep us dry.

Update; I don't know how it happened but I suppose because I mentioned we had booked it before I thought my details would show us having the Anderwell site but The Forestry commission sent me forms for Wilverley. It is the one I wanted to book when I first started and Anderwell was my 1st alternative because the TVR owners club had booked it on the date I wanted. The Wilverley site is smaller in that it is only the Barbecuing area that is locked of, but the car park is about 20 feet away and more or less a quarter of a mile from the main public car park for the Wilverley picnic area. It is all booked and paid for so all we need is good weather. Situated where it is you could even bypass the Lyndhurst "bottleneck" altogether and stay on the A31 and take a left for Burley, then drive through burley towards Brockenhurst and look for the site just after the long left hand bend.
