New forum format

In response to many requests, the Scotland forum now has a new "members only" area. Please use this to discuss topics about the Region that are not useful to non-members, and the "open to all" forum for anything you feel might be relevant to someone considering joining the Region.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions received over this, hopefully the new format is a good compromise for everyone!

Hi Paul,

I'm probably being dumb, but I can't see the new "members only" section.

Is it supposed to appear like the 997 members only sub-forum? I can see that fine.

Thanks for all the hard work on the forum.

Now you know why I'm a gardener, not a computer expert......

I'll get back to my weeding and stop tinkering with forum settings! [:D][:D][:D]

Has the time now come to do away with this sub-section of the forum?

Clearly it is not being used.

Just a suggestion.

Personally, as the top level "open" part is seeing all the traffic, we should not worry about changing it.

ie we may as well keep the private section just in case it is needed for some local internal discussion, it's doing no harm being there as it's not being used and we are being open to everyone. Just seems like causing work for the admins to ask for it to be removed.

I'd be worried, and want the "members only" section removed, if it was seeing most of the traffic.

Being open about most things (with the odd "members only" item) will both advertise the region, and encourage people to join.

But I don't really care if others think a members-only section could be taken the wrong way. Why don't we let Scott decide once he has his committee up and running?

There are two regions in Scotland!

True - but englandshire does not realise that!

So, correcting what I said earlier, perhaps Scott and the RO of Scotland-North should make a decision on this.

A bit late in replying to this but if you click onto the SCOTLAND region, you will see the MEMBERS ONLY part of the forum listed separately at the top of the page. BTW, nobody ever uses it!!![:)]
