New Fuchs 7&9X16 just arrived

As it says in the title, I have just taken delivery of a set of 7&9X16 Fuchs from street935 in Ireland. He did a great job of packaging them and getting UPS sorted.

They are fitted with as new (900 miles old) Dunlop SP Sport 9000 (!) tyres which will give me much better frip etc.

I will give them a clean over and a little polish, but they are in great shape. Will remove the weights and have re-balanced so there are no weights on the rim.

Will post before and after pictures at the weekend if I'm done then.

See my excellent blue colour coded 6&7X16 in the for sale section.

Great! Do post on how they perform compared to your old ones!

I have a spare set of 7's and 8's to change over for 6's and 7's but can't help wondering if 7's and 9's would be better- I have heard expert views both ways inc some good threads

Mine are on the car for the timebeing until the 7's and 8's are reconditioned etc. If you don't buy them off highfield let me know and we can work something out if you aren't in a hurry.[;)]

Cheers

Hey Ian,
Once they are fitted would be good to see some Pic's side on and along the flanks, etc

Have taken the wheels to have them re-balanced. The weights have been removed from the outside (polished) rim and applied to the inside.

This has left 'old weight fixing rubber adhesive' type black where the weights were.

Any good suggestions on the best way to remove it - white spirit, a plastic scraper etc.

Additionally, as the wheels are polished (not anodised), what is the best way to keep them clean and polished ?

Try Autosol metal polish - i have tried a couple and this is the best I have used so far.

I think your car is crying out for silver centres and silver Carrera script [:)][:)][:)][;)][;)][;)]

Jerry, 9s are only better if you want to run 245 rear tyres. Do you want to do that? Answer that and you will know whether you want 9s. If you run 205/225 tyres, there is no reason for 9s. Enlighten me if I missed something your experts suggested.

Cheers,
Richard

Ian,
I see from your post in the for sale section you've got the 7's & 9's on your car.

What are your first impressions and where are the pics?

Greg

Apologies for lack of pictures - my home PC had Internet connection problems, and I have ~20 to load to my MSN Spaces. Will place link here to them as soon as I can.

First impression was wow - I have a 4 X 4 - the suspension had not re-settled and was therefore very high !!!

Having driven the car, I love the way the wheels fill the arches out, and the wider tyre section on the road makes me feel more of the bumps, but it does give better grip (albeit the Dunlop Sport SP 9000 probably account for that).

I desperately need to lower the ride height, as it is ~25.5" at the back. Need more accurate measure at the front as my drive is not level, but the pictures will show it is a good two inches above where it should be.

I will leave full alignment, corner balance and ride height to over the winter - will probably get Francis Tuthill to do it as he is local and I have a lot of time for them - great guys.

Finally, can someone Photoshop a dark blue car with silver Carrera decals so I can see if RBs suggestion as a runner. After all, I will look to fully polish and paint the wheels over the winter, so maybe an idea.
