New Gen 2 GT3 on Porsche Website

I have just been crunching the numbers...

0-100kph = 4.1s 0-200kph = 12.3s So 100-200 = 8.2s
A stock 997.1 Turbo does 100-200 in 8.4s. So faster than a Turbo!!
Old 997.1 figures were 9.7s for the GT3 and 9.0s for the GT3RS. So that's SOME JUMP!
 
I visited my friendly OPC today to try and find out some more about the GT3 and Gen 2 Turbo which is yet to be announced. Details on GT3 still sketchy but it definately uses the GT1 based dry sump engine and it look like it does not have the DFI or PDK. The extra power comes from an increase in bore to 3.8 from 3.6 and by playing with the cam adjusters. New features include lifting front end (raises by 30mm at a touch of a button) and dynamic engine mounts that resist the dynamic forces which occur when cornering or accelerating hard. Apparently this makes the car stiffer on the track and softer on the road. Car will be available from September and deposits are invited as production run will be limited again. I am tempted!!

I also asked about Gen 2 Turbo. Expected at end of this year with 500Hp and PDK but still dont know if they will stay with the GT1 engine of move to the new DFI unit. Will the GT3 be the only car retaining a genuine dry sump engine?

My dealer told me that Porsche are very worried about sharp decline in values so they are halving the number of cars they intend to import into the UK this year to just over 3,000 to try and restore balance between supply and demand. My dealer told me that delivery times are already strectching out on standard cars so they expect a tough year. He valued my car at £62,500 (2 year old Turbo in good condition) if I was buying a GT3 today. Apparently the guide pricesfor 911s having been dropping at over £2k per month but last month this weant back to £400 so lets hope the worst is behind us
 
I received a brochure on the new GT3 today from my friendly OPC. It confirms that the engine is the genuine dry sump with no DFI.

The increase in power to 435 comes from increase in displacement to 3.8 litres and from using the vario cam system on both inlet and outlet valves. (previously inlet only) Pistons have been lightened and use ultra light titanium con rods to improve throttle response and allow max revs of 8,500. The brochure suggests that unlike the Gen 1 997 GT3 PASM is an optional extra and can be combined with the optional new front axle lifting system which can raise the car by 30mm for speed bumps and with the optional dynamic engine mounts.

The car is fitted with PSM as standard consisting of stability control and traction control and both these systems can be disabled in two stages.

Only transmission on offer is the six speed manual

 
Surprised they haven't gone DFI even with this engine. Any info. on what sort of improvement the dynamic engine mounts give as I guess they make a worthy difference on the track?

No PDK but is this the right box to put on a GT3 - could their Cup car sequential box be a production contender?
 
Brochure says sensors are used to monitor steering angle, longitudinal acceleration and lateral acceleration so the system can adjust the stifness of the rear engine mounts by exposing the magnethelogical fluid to an electronic field and increasing the viscosity of the fluid. This can provide improved stability resisting the force that pushes the engine mass straight on when a car is turned into a corner. Walter claims noticeable improvement in stability under load transfer during high speed cornering. Of course it also means car can be softer rest of the time.

A proper sequential gearbox would be a nice option on what is essentially a track orienated car that can be used on the road
