Is it that much cheaper than the C. Cup?
You could be competitive in the GT3 Cup challenge for a lot less money than in Carrera Cup. Carrera Cup needs newer cars that cost more. In the GT3 Challenge there is a class for each main type of Cup car. You can run a 996 Cup costing less than half a 997 Cup (£35k versus £70k). Ignoring the obvious car cost a big difference will be in tyre cost. To be competitive in Carrera Cup will require 3 sets of new tyres per round. Thats 30 sets of tyres a year assuming you never test on new tyres. £35k. Cup Challenge could realistically be done competitively on 1 set of new tyres per round. Thats 6 sets of tyres £7k.
