Hi All,

Thinking about changing my dated PCM1 unit with a new head unit..Looking at the Pioneer AVIC-930. Any recommendations? Also are the double din surrounds all the same or are there some better quality ones that someone can recommend buying from? I think I saw one a while ago which has PORSCHE written in small letters is that from an OPC by any chance. I have a great guy who can fit it all.
Many Thanks Roy

I think it should go straight in. I am sure someone will confirm.

where are buying the kit from?

Hi,

I have the Pioneer double din unit and I used the Connects2 surround. Fitting it upside down means it doesn't obscure the cup holder...

Thanks guys! Tiku, I'm buying it from my local av guy who I know buys alot from caraudiosecurity in Hayes.
Still waiting on a fully fitted price but saw that Rich mentioned the Sony used Tom Tom maps which is good IMO.
I tried using the pcm1 a while ago and gave up. Still don't know how to use it properly. Harder than trivial pursuit. :)

caraudio4less fitted my all singing dancing kenwood DNX5280BT tidies lots of thinsg dvd tuner tuner (extra) rear reversing camera, BT. had trouble with garmin side but eventually sorted. i prefer garmin by pioneer is a good unit. woudl post picture car is in for body work aftre scraped by tv trailer truck. Came out of hospital after an operation and saw my rear wheel arch scrapped double tears until ... would you believe driver left a note details and even told police

Wow. That was fortunate Meng. Moj will be fitting my stuff Meng also may finally get round to fitting the BOSE subwoofer I've had in the spare room for ages. As I'm not technical, I'll let Moj worry about sorting it all. He is an av genius and would work on the cat as if it was his own.

Hi rohit u know moj isn't in full steam having bust his arm he and sanj r a good team still have to sort out my disco which they fitted but getting feedback Sid is now in business in uxbridge

i fitted a pioneer avic d3 in my 987 about 4 years ago have had no problems with it, i think the unit your are looking at is the new model compared with mine. i bought a double din fitting kit and surround of e bay for about 30 pounds

My PCM1 CD drive died a couple of weeks ago. I had this fitted yesterday (by John Kleis in Reading). It's an Alpine INE-S900R, which I chose mainly because it looks pretty much OEM. They added the Porsche badge startup screen at fitting. It has all the usual refinements of full European mapping, iPod control (iPod lives in the glovebox), Bluetooth, TMC (traffic), active route control (avoids delays by itself!!), CD/DVD player, etc.

There was a minor faux-pas when they fitted it in that the "reverse" input and "illumination" input wires are bizarrely the same colour. Not a problem until you turn the headlights on at which point, the satnav sets off across the world backwards at whatever speed you are doing forwards. They corrected that today in about ten minutes. Overall fitted, it was a slightly eye watering £1100 but as the car is a keeper, I felt it was worth it overall - especially since I would have had to have spent a good £300 or so getting the PCM drive fixed.

Sorry for not replying rohit I am very happy with the kenwood dnx5280bt after a hiccough dodgy unit which wouldn't do traffic now working perfeCt has more than I need or use good watching tv in traffic!! As usual master fitter manor at caraudio4less

Thanks guys! Going to hold out for abit longer and wait for Manoj to get full use of his arm back. Then I'll have another look around. Just fitted the parrot MKi 9200 in my 850R. Very good and with the iPod adaptor makes such a difference. Thx Roy

Roy,

Remember what we spoke about at Ace, - If it aint broke dont fix it!!!

The car is not your daily driver.

See you soon
